I am up to my ears with the hand wringing and pronunciations of the end of the Obama Presidency
It is just getting on my ever lasting last nerve.

And do not post to me that I am trying to stifle constructive criticism with my saying that.

If someone can post the prediction of the end of the Obama administration, I can post my feelings about it.

We would have been totally down the tubes, if the Obama administration had not stepped in to try and keep us afloat.

The Bushes and republicans basically scuttled the country. And we are deep into repairs.

It is going to take time, whether we like it or not.

4. If you can't handle other people's views, I'd suggest you stop reading them.
You're free to whine and cry about how mean people are being to your beloved Obama but they still have the right to do it. If you don't like it, just don't read it.

Is it really that hard?

I do, however, enjoy pointing out that you could easily just not read it instead of trying to shut down debate.

Isn't it a shame how mean people are being to the most powerful person in the world?

It's awful!

But it really is pathetic trying to shut down debate because your sensitive soul can't handle it. That's one of the reasons fundies give for denying GLBT rights.

Interesting...

See how easy it is to personally insult others? I can do it, you can do it and yet it doesn't do anything but create bad feelings.

Why don't you just ask that this asinine OP be locked and stop spewing broad brush insults at everyone who doesn't believe exactly the same way you do?

And I never argued otherwise. I haven't called for impeachment or revolt. I've criticized this president on the facts and stated that my trust in him is destroyed unless he returns to the promises of his campaign and works for Democratic policies.

And even then I'm going to push him further to the left because he's a centrist. That's just what we do. It's called republican democracy.

104. "And do not post to me that I am trying to stifle constructive criticism with my saying that."
When you post something like that, you are saying in effect, "Don't post your opinion of this post." That is attempting to shut down the debate. Other than that, there is no one telling you that you must "give up on the Presidency." People like myself are pointing out that this president isn't working toward goals that support the working class or the poor (becoming one in the same). You don't have to agree with that, but in a republican democracy that prides itself on free speech, you are bound to hear it either at DU or elsewhere.

31. Why do you work so hard to criticize?
Did you criticize Bush as much?

The reason I don't like it is that it undermines this party and makes it a circular firing squad.

There is no way Obama is a republican. That's absurd. It's way out there.

But if you're one who wants real Rs rather than "fake Rs" have at it.

Undermine everything you say you want. Or do you really want it?

63. So criticizing the Ds at the top who can at least get into power is going to
help with that?

If you are sure the party is controlled by people you can never agree with, you need a new party.

and if you want us all to join your party, you'll have to convince us that it can get somewhere and is not just a hang out for idealists with no interest in getting anywhere at all if they can't get 100% of what they want right away.

Funny thing is, do you criticize Kucinich as much for not winning? It would seem he'd need a lot of criticism for that. He must not be handling the elections the right way, no?

74. That's the plan. Hold Obama's feet to the fire - just as he requested.
When he is not working in our best interests it is our duty to criticize him. Defending the indefensible is foolish and harmful.

And I just disagreed with him on another subject on another thread. Now I can prove I don't always agree with him, so you're screwed.

And who is more progressive and shouldn't they be criticized for failing to win the election?

13. Ir's going to take a lot more time if
Obama keeps caving to those who are responible for the mess we're in and expecting them to fix it. Not only did they create the mess we're in, they enjoy the mess we're in cause they still get rich. Geithner and the like need to go NOW. If you don't like me complaining about that well TOO BAD. If you don't like me complaining that his health care reform is caving to lobby and right wing then TOO BAD.

If you expect me to follow Barack Obama lock step regardless of what he does or who he makes secret deals with you can forget it. If that's what it takes to be a real Democrat then I'm not. If expecting Obama to keep his word and really fight for we the people that's what I am. If that sounds like a child so what. I do not follow ANYBODY lock step.

I won't give up and I won't leave the Democratic party... no matter what poo they fling around.
Let them try to tear this President down. He's proven himself strong. He'll be alright.
We just need to show the President that we have his back. We are here for him.

That is probably the most chilling ruling to the future of our politics. 20 years from now, the politicians will be wearing jackets like race car drivers have, with the names of the companies that support them.

But nice try

I can understand it when people want to leave America to live in a more affordable situation and/or for illness reasons.

But I don't abide those who think about running from the fight. Especially people who lecture the rest of us here at DU daily about standing firm with the president.

Go ahead, embrace hypocrisy. I choose not to do that. Please take the last word if you need to do that. I've had my say and I'm done here in this thread.

94. If this board is 'his base',
we're in serious trouble. No, even I wouldn't make an attempt to run for government with this cream filling we call support over here. The most vocal here pretty much adopted the P.U.M.A. stance while the opposition has rock solid support. Sorry, no this place is the fringe and I take great comfort in knowing that. For many, President Obama lost their support within 3-6 months after inauguration. Who in their right mind would cater to people like that? It's hilarious when people use the terms 'the great Obama' and 'Messiah' yet it's THEM that expects great miracles to occur.

and that just doesn't mix well with the instant-gratification that we're used to. I don't always understand or agree with things Obama does, but then there are reasons that he is President and I'm not. In the grand scheme of things one year isn't a realistic time frame.

And it is nauseating that those of us who support the Democratic head of state must wear asbestos suits when voicing that support in an ostensibly Democratic forum. Civil conversation has been replaced by a verbal cannibalism that delights the disloyal opposition.

110. it wouldn't be a problem if those who disagreed with Obama discussed it
without getting personal. It is the tone of the attacks that are too much to take, not the substance.

The anti Obama crowd come across as pious, condescending, bullies. Sort of like the right. Or the ones who defended their votes for Nader in 2000. Yes, the country ended up way more fucked up than had they voted Gore but at least they were pure. Better. Superior. Self righteous.

It is self defeating to viciously attack the very people who are trying to advance our causes. You defeated HCR so what do you say to the 30 million people who go another generation without health care? Do you think this is really in their best interest? What do you say to the 44,000 who will die this year because you didn't get a public option? It's only money for gawd's sake. So insurance companies make more profit off us for a time. You are playing with peoples' lives here.

But at least you are pure.

Something Obama can't afford to be.

I'm sorry, not unlike my Jaded perspective, your MO is well known.

Neither YOU nor I can browbeat people into changing their minds about our present Administration. Yes, the Entire Executive Branch is comprised of more than one individual. :eyes:

By his selections, President Obama is proving to us every day WHICH SIDE (Banksters/Ultra-Wealthy vs. Individual Working American) he is supporting by his ACTIONS/INACTIONS.
