FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Former North Dakota House Republican majority leader Rick Berg has begun his campaign for the U.S. House.

The Fargo state representative announced in Fargo on Tuesday that he will seek the GOP endorsement to run against incumbent Democrat Earl Pomeroy. Berg planned appearances at other cities around the state later in the day.

The 50-year-old property development executive in Fargo served as House Republican leader from 2003 to 2007. He was first elected in 1984.

Public Service Commissioner Kevin Cramer and Bismarck insurance agent Paul Schaffner also are seeking the GOP endorsement for House.
