If a plan is adopted will it bring payments for all Americans
to the same level? I have heard and read many comments. As a senior, I'm wondering about a few things. I am pasting something I wrote last February. Anyone have thoughts on how things would stand now?

I am concerned about changes in the health-care portions of any
new proposal. I am the first one to agree that we need universal health care. Single -payer. In fact, years ago I was involved with a group who worked with Mrs. Clinton on her initiatives. I was not a Senior then but as you age, your perspective changes a lot on this issue. It is a big issue for me now that I am 67. It is an issue at any age.

All recipients of Social Security already spend about $100.00 a month, deducted from their check for Medicare A & B (this does not count the annual deductible). There are additional fees for privately bought supplements to cover the non-coverage parts of Medicare. Of course there is the genius Part D prescription drug plan which almost no-one feels is logical or fair.

If we ever get a universal plan, I wonder if that $100.00 a month will cease to be deducted from our check. Maybe a single payer plan will pay for medicine too?

Somehow I don't think I'll live long enough to see this ever happen but there ought to be birth-to- death health-care for our citizens.

Somehow, lots of folks think that Medicare is free to elders. This statement is not true. It is like any other insurance with premiums, co-pays, deductibles and gaps. It is not a free ride, especially if Social Security is your only income.

1. I'm 63 on Medicare (disabled) and Single Payer in my view should cost no more than $100 per person
per month (now before the census it's 307 million Americans). Children should cost $50 per month and less after two children or their income level allows for no fee.

The Single Payer coverage should include 100% medical, 100% dental, vision and prescriptions. These damn corporate greed stealers have gotten away with deciding life and death for us for too many years while they only seek profits and could care less about a person's health.

Many of our legislators have been bribed with millions of dollars by insurance/pharma to not allow us fair medical which is a right.

They cannot tell me that hundreds of millions of people paying $100 per month would not be enough to pay for it all. A pill cost pennies to make. Much of the prices of services are outrageous and needs to be regulated.

Enough is enough. Obama says we can't start with Single Payer because we can't go back. I say BS it is time the people's wants and needs are addressed with what they want! What their taxes, and the salaries they pay the legislators, should go for to work for the people by the people for once and for all.

2. In Canada the plans are tax based not premium based. No out of pocket expenses, no deductables.
