VHeadline.com reporters: The Venezuelan Program for Education/Action in Human Rights (Provea) claims in its 21st annual report published Thursday that efforts made by the Venezuelan government to clean up the nation's police force have not borne fruit.
In the last 12 months the number of forced disappearances, extrajudicial executions and acts of torture allegedly committed by police officers have increased significantly.
The situation of fundamental rights in Venezuela deteriorated between October 2009 and September 2010 with 39 reports of missing people captured by the police or military officers.
The figure represents a 387.5% increase compared with the previous period and the health and whereabouts of the victims remain unknown.
