Exclusive: Actress Alonso Leads Protest Against Oliver Stone Film
he Cuban-born, Venezuelan-raised actress Maria Conchita Alonso will lead a protest against Oliver Stones documentary South of the Border when the filmmaker appears at a screening and Q&A for the film on Friday.

In the past, Alonso has been an outspoken critic of actors Sean Penn and Danny Glover (her co-stars in Colors and Predator 2, respectively), who have expressed support for Cubas Fidel Castro and Venezuelas Hugo Chavez. Both rulers are shown in a favorable light in Stones documentary, which the New York Times Stephen Holden called a provocative, if shallow, exaltation of Latin American socialism.

Oliver Stone is a great director, but hes the minister of propaganda for Chavez, Alonso tells TheWrap. He doesnt show the truth of the poverty in Venezuela, he doesnt show the shortages of food and medicine and electricity in the whole country. Its one of the worst countries in the world in crime rate, in economy, in poverty, and he doesnt show that.

And how can a filmmaker like him support a government that controls all media, closes independent outlets, and arrests journalists both foreign and domestic?

2. I find it amazing that so called progressives
At ths site so regularly attack women based on their sex lives and appearence. It is a patriarchal and reactionary way of dealing with opponents yet one poster here posts pictures with derogatory names and physical descriptions every day. As a progrssive, I do not approve of it.

7. Can she at least sing well?
Oh, god, it just came back to me. There's an image in google images of her I saw long ago, and forgot: she spent some time "sunning" herself somewhere, and clearly knew they were taking photos of her. She was wearing some very short sun dress which was hiked up around her nether parts and she was wearing NO skivs. Bleccch.

NOT a good sight, and she looked like hell. Apparently she continued to lie around that w ay, like a beached whale. She looked completely insane. She was wearing regular glasses, if my memory serves, probably pretending to be reading outdoors.

It was a completely UGLY few photos which made it to the internetS.

She's gotta be crazy.

I guess her brother, Roberto, is back in Miami, after spending years as the intellectual author of "guarimbas," the violent protests against the Venezuelan government, and as the host of over 100 Colombian paramilitaries, some of them former soldiers, found bunking in quonset huts on his Daktari ranch, near Caracas. Damned creepy, slimy Cuban "exile" Roberto.

Ha ha, here are some images of Maria Conchita, his kid sister:

Oh, yes, she's a righteous woman fighting for women's rights, and, a fine actor devoted to her craft.

8. Nice of you to resort to comments about her looks.
Since you have no problems with resorting
to sexism or the objectification of women or other right wing patriarchal smears, would you mind posting pictures of yourself so we can judge your arguments by them?

9. You've never come through as someone who defends the plight of the oppressed, the downtrodden,
and most certainly not a defender of women's rights, or you would have had presence on threads concerning the tragic, unbearable plight of poor women (and men) in Colombia here.

Maria Conchita Alonso is doing everything in her power to drag down general standards of the way adult women conduct themselves. She clearly needs an etiquette book, AND a drama coach. I haven't heard her singing, but from what I've seen there's not any reason to hold out hope for that, either.

It has always gone hand in hand that womens' rights advocates are ALSO human rights advocates. That means progressive.

16. Sure. Two.
She likes being naked (and showing it). Gets boring.
They have live pitch correction hardware for singers now. ;)

Most, but not all, music techies are clueless on politics.
On the road there are two primary concerns: can we get clean stable power, and where is the cold beer?

14. She sure sounds right on the spot though
I think most of what she says is spot on. So I guess this makes me an idiot. You'll have to come up with something better to convince me she's wrong - Stone's documentary sucks, it's propaganda, it's outdated, and it defends people who got it wrong, as shown by the way things are going in Venezuela. As I pointed out, it seems other leaders are starting to see the Chavez dogmas, inherited from Castro, are erroneous, and they're shifting away from that virulent communist tripe.

5. Yawn.
Ahnuld is an actor. Charleton Heston is an actor. Dennis Hopper is an actor. John Travolta is an actor. Tom Cruise is an actor (how could anyone in their right mind divorce Nicole Kidman?). Jenny McCarthy is an actor.

I mean who gives a crap what actors think?
