Cuban dissident Carlos Franqui dies
Carlos Franqui, 89, a writer and activist who was an important figure in the Cuban revolution and became an outspoken critic of Fidel Castro, died April 16 in Puerto Rico of bronchial and heart problems.

Mr. Franqui entered leftist political movements as a youth and joined Castro's rebellion against dictator Fulgencio Batista. He increasingly clashed with hard-liners who were restricting cultural and political dissent.

Mr. Franqui left Cuba in 1963 and openly broke with the communist government in 1968 when he denounced the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia.

Kind of strange he would break with Castro. I guess he "didn't see the big picture".
