Colombia’s Uribe Says Two Terms Aren’t Sufficient, RCN Reports

Feb. 12 (Bloomberg) -- Colombia’s President Alvaro Uribe said eight years in office is not long enough for a president to foster stability, attract investment and overcome poverty in the South American nation, RCN Radio reported.

Uribe said two terms isn’t a sufficient mandate given that during 200 years of democracy in Colombia, only 47 years have been peaceful, RCN reported, without saying where it obtained the information.

Colombia’s constitutional court is currently considering whether to allow a referendum on a third straight term for presidents to go forward.
