The song of the resistance in Honduras

Nos tienen miedo
porque no tenemos miedo

They fear us
because we have no fear

This song rapidly has become the rallying cry of the people's resistance to the goriletti golpistas and the milicos.

Last night on Radio Globo Zelaya's daugher Pichu sang it to Globo's vast listening audience. She has a nice voice and did a fabulous version.

The version above is by Liliana Felipe, a fabulous woman in her own right.

Liliana Felipe
"Somos cabronas, pero somos las patronas" (We are bitches, but we are the bosses)

Liliana Felipe, one of Latin America's foremost singers and composers, was born in Argentina in the 1950s. She left for Mexico just before the outbreak of the 'Dirty War' (1976), but her sister and brother-in-law were both 'disappeared'--victims of the military dicatorship's criminal politics. In Mexico, Liliana went to one of Jesusa Rodriguez's performances. Jesusa, catching a glimpse of Felipe in the audience, remembers saying to herself: "I am going to die with that woman." Since then, Liliana and Jesusa have created two performance spaces, El Cuervo and later El Habito, that they still run. They 'married' in February, 2000. Liliana's music has a wide following in Latin America. She continues to be a powerful presence in Argentina, working with human rights organizations--especially H.I.J.O.S. (the organization of the children of the disappeared).

2. Love that song. Have heard it once before, but not with this powerful voice! Wow.
The song itself is perfect, the video elegantly managed.

I found another video with additional images in which this song appears around 1/2 way through:

It's especially interesting to know one of Zelaya's daughters actually got up her courage and sang this in public herself. His family has been so strong, and so courageous throughout, unlike anything I've ever seen from the family of a public figure. They are truly distinguished, admirable people on their own, taking grave risks to their own security to involve themselves with this struggle.

3. Calling rabs. Found a picture I think you might find interesting!
Just read your remark again about Pichu Zelaya singing "Nos tienen miedo," and went to look for a photo of her, was tickled to see this one:

http://pix.elnuevodiario.com.ni.nyud.net:8090/2009/03/250x250_1237003036_ZELAYA.jpg

It all came back to me that I had seen one particularly obnoxious gusano gas bag posting here, over and over again, his eternal stupid claim Fidel Castro was dead, and we needed to show him any photo of the guy, if he's still alive.

We found photos over the next year and published them when they appeared in the corporate media, and this pathetic a-hole kept claiming they were photoshopped, etc., or that there was nothing which proved they were recent.

I felt like snickering when I found this one because I absolutely know this one never made it to the U.S., and learning this, imagine there are many, MANY others floating around, too, which were ignored by our own media sources. Usually they only publish material which can be used against the Latin American leftists, which you already know!

He definitely looks as if he's doing as well as anyone would who's been really sick, right?

4. I remember the desperate efforts to make Fidel Castro "dead"

I was in lurker mode then, chuckling like crazy. It's almost as funny as Oppenheimer's book, "The last hours of Fidel Castro," which Oppy wrote in 1992 (if I remember correctly.)

He should put out a revised edition titled "The last 17 years of Fidel Castro."

Zelaya's daughter Pichu has a bright future. I have heard her talk, very intelligent young lady.

Plus, she sings very nicely.
