Zelaya's wife and family on way back to Tegu at this moment (11:15 p.m EST)
to be in solidarity with the family of the teacher and the others who were shot today.

Zelaya's daughter just said that the family would go to Radio Globo and the first lady will transmit a message to the nation tonight. The daughter said the return to Tegu did not mean that the family's plan to join Zelaya at the Nica border had changed.

Radio station is calling for the people to welcome the first lady when she arrives in Tegu in a couple of hours. (That makes me nervous, considering the violence today in the capital.)

The teacher is in a coma after undergoing four hours of surgery. Reporter at the hospital said he may not live.

(Radio Globo as I post this is transmitting a paid program, but will cover the return of the family later.)

1. She made it, just arrived at Radio Globo

Lots and lots of people outside the station. Festive atmosphere.

First Lady and Pichu about to talk.

2. Ha ha we're both addicted to Radio Globo!
Isn't it amazing to be able to hear this station. I wonder how many are listening.

3. Yep, we are on the same freq ..
:)

I was kinda worried there for a while. Apparently there was a convoy of about 300 vehicles with the first family.

What we are listening to is a historic time for Honduras.

Btw, the Inter American Press Association today praised Radio Globo and Ch. 36 for their work.

4. Since we can receive them stateside via the web,
does that qualify them for Pulitzers?

5. Don't think so cuz Pulitzers usually reserved for U.S. journalists

But honors will be showered on Radio Globo and Ch. 36 when this is all over.

There were some other prizes announced this week, the Maria Moors Cabot awards by Colombia University. The awards are for coverage of Latin America.

A Cuban blogger was awarded Honorable Mention, so I guess online bloggers are becoming eligible.
