The CSpan VO just said the issue currently on the floor is Biden's, which I gather means it will be the first order of business voted on -- WHENEVER.
Morning business has been concluded and they're breaking for lunch.
I sure can't follow or understand how things are done on the Senate floor. On Friday, for example, Joe stressed a 10:00 start for today. Someone said it would have to be 10:15 or 10:20 because a large number of people always attend some type of meeting on Tuesday mornings. Biden was reluctant to even give 15 or 20 minutes which indicated to me that the vote itself would take place at 10:00 -- be there.
This morning a number of people have gotten up and discussed a myriad of subjects. Haven't heard or seen Joe. I have no idea what all the requests/motions? mean, and when I hear "roll call" somebody always says "Mr. Akaka", the microphone goes dead, and that's it. Or maybe a few other names are mentioned. I really don't get it, but I hung in there...
Anyway, what I DO get is that the pace is typical government stereotype. In corporate America if a meeting is to begin at 10:00, you're there. If you have other things on your agenda, you work through them item by item.
If they were on commission they'd be hustling, I bet.
I believe the afternoon session resumes at 2:15. I'm going to go take a nap.
