Well good AFTERNOON, Bidenites. Here's the latest:
The CSpan VO just said the issue currently on the floor is Biden's, which I gather means it will be the first order of business voted on -- WHENEVER.

Morning business has been concluded and they're breaking for lunch.

I sure can't follow or understand how things are done on the Senate floor. On Friday, for example, Joe stressed a 10:00 start for today. Someone said it would have to be 10:15 or 10:20 because a large number of people always attend some type of meeting on Tuesday mornings. Biden was reluctant to even give 15 or 20 minutes which indicated to me that the vote itself would take place at 10:00 -- be there.

This morning a number of people have gotten up and discussed a myriad of subjects. Haven't heard or seen Joe. I have no idea what all the requests/motions? mean, and when I hear "roll call" somebody always says "Mr. Akaka", the microphone goes dead, and that's it. Or maybe a few other names are mentioned. I really don't get it, but I hung in there...

Anyway, what I DO get is that the pace is typical government stereotype. In corporate America if a meeting is to begin at 10:00, you're there. If you have other things on your agenda, you work through them item by item.

If they were on commission they'd be hustling, I bet.

I believe the afternoon session resumes at 2:15. I'm going to go take a nap.

1. I wonder how much time Reid is going is going to give this amendment??
One would think getting it right in Iraq would be an important enough topic to make it a priority.
And I am not just saying that because of my support for Biden.

You gotta wonder sometimes about the leadership....

Have a good nap!

4. No wonder why they call it 'the do nothing congress'
They just came back and went back into a period of morning business.
No one is on the floor.
Then they are going to go on another break to view the unveiling of Byrd's portrait.

:silly:

Maybe I'll run for Senate.
Seems like a cake job.

5. I was thinking the exact same thing. I was impressed a while back that they
worked into the night but I didn't realize it was because they didn't do anything all day!

Cake job is right. And health insurance for life.

And apparently you don't have to pay attention when someone is speaking like you do in real world gatherings -- you can just chat with your friends until you're 'up'.

6. And you don't even have to read the amendments that you vote on.
You can just go by your gut feeling. And stay in your office until it's time to vote.

ugh - I have to leave for awhile.
Maybe by the time I get back, they will have gotten back to work.

7. Anybody knows
who spoke for or against it? I caught a bit of Kyl against in the morning as I was getting ready to go to work, then life interfered.
