Hagel: U.S. may need new political party

updated 9:03 a.m. ET, Thurs., March. 20, 2008

OMAHA, Neb. - U.S. Sen. Chuck Hagel writes in a new book that the United States needs independent leadership and possibly another political party, while suggesting the Iraq war might be remembered as one of the five biggest blunders in history.

"In the current impasse, an independent candidate for the presidency, or a bipartisan unity ticket ... could be appealing to Americans," Hagel writes

They're pals, both exceptionally experienced, appeal to BOTH sides....

What do you think? (I never give up, I guess....)

EDIT: I posted this out there, hoping in a manipulative type of way  that we'll see some pro-Biden responses.

I don't know if there's really a possibility for Joe to leave the Dem Party -- he's pretty well entrenched.

1. I don't think Biden would abandon the Democratic party
but it makes for a nice dream.

5. Never say never
I never thought I'd see Lincoln Chafee leave the GOP, either. Especially since he had made a promise to his dad that he'd stay.

You never know (but I do think Biden will stay Dem).
