here. Learned so much since it was started, thanks to all of you. Unless you were into "Old Stuff" you'd never understand the enthusiasm everyone here shows. It is an inquisitive, curious mind that delves into all these relics of our past, looking for that little piece of something that will make us happy and excited. Sometimes it is sad that others have no interest in all this old stuff---as a co-worker called it, but I guess that is for the better. Makes my chances of finding something a little better.

My goodies don't have to be of great value, last week I got a great victorian Brass window lock-really of no value but it cleaned up nicely and is now proudly locking one of my ground floor windows. What is that worth? 2 dollars or so but just looking at it brings me great pleasure. Love the little porcelain knob on the lock arm. Sure better looking than the new hardware store stuff.

A real find does not really mean that the item has to be worth a lot. Half the fun is in the hunt, the rest is in the enjoyment. To those who can still earn a living in the Antiques business, I know the goodies are scarce. I hope there is still enough out there to fill your van or car. If you have to retire from the business like we did, just keeping up the hunt keeps our minds going!

1. shouldn't goodies be easier to find now?

So many sellers are getting out of the business, and so many people are having to sell stuff to pay daily expenses, shouldn't those who are buying be finding some bargains soon?

I walked past an old building yesterday where a former dealer is selling out. He's had his stock in this building for decades and is ready to unload. I was with someone who doesn't have the patience to look, so I plan to go back alone tomorrow. Lots of furniture. We'll see.
