Riding with the big boys
Got to go motorcycle camping last weekend, still don't have pics from Mrs. Robb, but I got everyone else's. :D

Rode about 150 miles on the slab to a women's dirt clinic sort of camping event, set up the tent and such, and while Mrs. Robb joined the clinic, "the boys" went for a ride.

Sometimes it looked like this:

Sometimes, it looked like this:

At least once, it looked like this:

...That's yours truly, trying to catch my breath after a bit of a spill at 10,000 feet. I had dropped the 640 on the trail, spectacularly. Of course I had an audience riding by on ATVs, and had to entertain them. Here's the poor thing leaned back up against a tree:

Finally got going again:

...Here's one of the derelicts gathering firewood back at camp:

Right purdy:

All in all, good weekend. Most of the "boys" were exceptional riders, putting those 950s and 990s across the dirt like they were on trials bikes. I had a lot of light bulbs go off in my own head, as well, on better control on the big bike at speed in the rocks. Finally got comfortable standing on the pegs, and shifting while up there. Good stuff. :)

1. Glad you are ok after that fall!!
Looks like fun. I wish I was out on my bike right now, instead of nursing a sore shoulder. :-(

2. Thanks. I fall a lot.
Fortunately it's always been on dirt, I'm geared up for it, and I'm in my 30s. :D

Bummer about the shoulder. I've still got a sore wrist from last weekend -- not from any fall, but from rolling into camp, being distracted when I stopped, almost dropping the bike when I saw the stand wouldn't do its job on my odd angle, and straining to bring it back upright. :eyes:

Serves me right for having a 350 pound dirt bike. ;)

3. It would help to be in my 30's instead of late 40's...
I'm really angry at myself for not starting when I was younger.

Hope your wrist heals soon! Don't forget to ice it! :hi:

4. Looks like an amazing time!
Looks like it was an amazing time, glad you had fun, even with a bit of an "ouch" moment. I'd love to try something like that sometime
