My first & third knitted scarves
Edited on Sat Feb-10-07 08:29 PM by WolverineDG
#2 (light pink & dark pink) is with my friend's granddaughter & I'm told she loves loves LOVES it.

#1 is on the left (and don't ask me how many mistakes I made---there are tons!) #3 on the right & on Monday will be headed to a friend in Chicago as a surprise (shh! don't tell)

Pattern again (if interested): 2 skeins of Fun Fur (worked together), size 17 needles, cast on 12-14 stitches (your preference), knit to the end, bind off. Easy peasey.

1. Lovely!
Don't worry about the mistakes--only you know they're there. :)

2. Mistakes -- we all make 'em!
One thing cool about working with eyelash yarn is that it's VERY forgiving! :)

The scarves are great!

3. Very nicely done

I got so frustrated with that yarn, I threw the whole damn thing away (and I'm NOT a novice knitter) I honestly did. So IMO the fact that you persevered is nothing to sneeze at. That novelty yarn is VERY difficult to work with.

4. There were times during the 1st scarf

that I wondered why the instructor thought that yarn was good for a first project. Well, as someone else pointed out, it's very forgiving & you can't see my mistakes in the first scarf, so I guess it's just to get you excited about completing a project your first week with the needles. :)

On edit: It was easier the 2nd time around with contrasting colors.

5. What I came to realize is that you have to feel the stitches more than see them.
The wraps I'm making are all double crochets and there's no talk in the pattern about which loop to pick up -- LOL! I'm lucky to find a space, let alone know which loop! :)

6. Lovely!
I'm not a fan of Fun Fur (or any furry yarn, except maybe for borders and such). Good for you for persevering.

I wouldn't recommend this yarn for a first time knitter, either, but it looks like you did a fine job with it.

7. Very pretty!
I haven't done scarves in a while, though everyone asks for them (girls in the family). These are cute.
