Any more room in the Republican pool? - Tom Coburn (R-OK) thinks of jumping in
Sen. Tom Coburn is mulling an entry into the Republican presidential primary, according to sources inside and outside the Senate. Coburn, a senator from Oklahoma, is believed to be receiving encouragement from a small group of wealthy businessmen and philanthropists in the Oklahoma-Kansas-Texas region of the country.

"He's all about faith, lower taxes, and staying the course in Iraq," says an adviser outside of the Senate who has been speaking to Coburn.

Coburn had been mulling a run earlier this year, but with what appeared to be a crowded field, including two sitting Senators (John McCain and Sam Brownback), along with another seriously looking (Chuck Hagel), Coburn appeared to pull back.

...snip...

Coburn is believed to have the backing of several low-profile members of the so called "Swift Boaters," men who financed the ads that doomed the presidential aspirations of Sen. John Kerry.

Yes, if only a real conservative would get into the race, all would be well...

1. Tom Coburn is a whack job.
He wants to be a doctor as well as a Congressman.

Either his patients or his constituents are getting the short end of the stick, I'm not sure which.

Both are getting screwed, no doubt.

The man is mentally ill, and is unfit for office. Just what we need to follow in *'s footsteps. :eyes:

3. "Faith, lower taxes, and staying the course in Iraq"--
In other words, George W. Bush. Because it out worked so well the last time.

Tom Coburn's father, O.W. Coburn, donated the millions of dollars required to fund the startup of the O.W. Coburn school of law at Oral Roberts University. Initial enrollment was in the fall of 1979. In the fall of 1985 Oral Roberts and his ever obedient university board of regents "gifted" the school to Pat Robertson and CBN university. The library and the ABA accreditation relocated from Tulsa to Virginia Beach. Students and faculty were another issue. There actually is a fair amount of bad blood between the two groups of alumni - and there is at least some history of liberalism and respect for the Democratic party at ORU. Nonetheless, both schools boast some real wackos - alums and professors. Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann is an ORU law school alumn. Monica Goodling is a Regent/CBN law school alum. Less well known is John Eidsmoe, former ORU professor and Herb Titus, former ORU assistant law school dean and founding dean of the CBN/Regent school of law.

I am sick of these religious kooks.....
