Poll question: Lets say we could stop the destruction of the world
But to do so it would destroy our economy. The Corporations fight to maintain the course we are on because that is the best short term path for their profits. But it is also the path that leads to the destruction of the world. Politicians and government are the only thing that can intervene. But to do so in time to save the world would devastate the Corporations.

What would the politicians do.

1. Well, we could count on the politicians to contribute plenty of hot air.
And, of course, request contributions so they can "save the world" and ward off the bogeyman.

2. what - no blame for the rapture ready?
While I think the corporations do have a large part of the blame, you fail to acknowledge the "rapture ready" at the steering wheel of the road to chaos.

WHY fix the world for anyone when they all know their version of HEAVEN is waiting? Why not floor the acceleration and just clasp your hands in prayer and laugh at the end?

3. You say 'we' but then tell us to guess what politicians ('they') would do.

I'd say buckle to the interests. What else can anyone do?

5. Supposedly our nations sovereignty rests with We The People
The politicians are supposed to be our representatives. Supposedly they do what we want.

7. Our economy gets destroyed when the world gets destroyed
That's something that they don't get. The worse that the destruction gets, the less likely that our current form economics will survive. All those profits will mean nothing at all. The sooner that politicians act to make changes to save the world, the more likely that their profits can grow in the future.

8. Current economic model does not allow for long term thinking
Corporations can only act in the short term. Any Corporation that deviates from such a path gets wiped out by take overs or competition. Once the stock prices starts plummeting the Corporation is doomed.

10. But if the same rules apply to everyone, they don't lose to competition
I know that global competition makes it hard for everyone to have the same rules. This is why international cooperation is important.

9. "Buckle to the interests" implies that they might have had an impulse to stop them
They do not experience impulses, feelings or entertain conclusions of that nature, I assure you. You can count the ones who are even capable of such impulses on one hand. Their existence within the system amounts to statistical noise, and is testimony only to the fact that no system is perfect.
