5. Tree vs forest question? Why did UMass invite Card? Was it just to
gage the opposition or was it another shameless in your face move by Mitt?

7. Here is a link with one explanation:
** snip **

Sigrid Schmalzer, an assistant professor of history, said she believes Card was honored because he's well-connected and UMass thought he could somehow help the school.

"For the university to so cynically disregard the question of intellectual integrity when it becomes convenient to pursue money and power is the wrong message to send," she said.

However, this paragraph from the article is false ... The video makes clear that people throughout the entire arena were participating:

"The protests were mainly contained to an area in the back of the campus arena, though many of the faculty members onstage joined the three- to four- minute outburst."

6. My DH just called me in to see something on TV; MSNBC covered
the graduation, the yellow 'Dis-Card's and the banner about a war criminal. Those damn liberals... :applause: :woohoo: :spray: :patriot:

8. This is a precursor of George W. Bush's post Presidency.
How will he manage to appear anywhere in public without his WH apparatus controlling the event? He'll be unable to appear anywhere in public without a similar reception. His retirement from the public eye will be our choice, not his.

10. That actually made me teary.
Unfortunately, I know far too many young people who don't seem to care about anything outside of their personal bubbles. This gives me hope.
