Neige à Paris
Edited on Sat Dec-11-10 12:42 PM by marmar

Record snow in Paris Wednesday shut down buses and flights and even closed the Eiffel Tower.

The Meteo France service reported that one weather station in Paris had 4.5 inches (11 cm) of snow Wednesday. Paris has not recorded a larger one-day snowfall since 1987.

The snow fell heavily for several hours, reducing visibility to a quarter of a mile at times.

The BBC reports that the Eiffel Tower closed Wednesday because salt could not be used on the monument to prevent possible damage to its iron structure.

The Charles de Gaulle airport closed during the afternoon, so snow could be cleared off the runways. ........(more)

1. This will surely bring out the Climate Change deniers after their Summer hibernation
Funny how silent they were when the weather was hotter than usual. It's like they went into a Summer hibernation.

They still call it "Global Warming", which has something to do with it. Had one write into the local fish wrap on Thursday, spouting, "It was 16 degrees at my home in (my SC hellhole) on Dec. 8, 2010. I wonder how the global warming experts will explain that." Ummmmm....because it's WINTER????

10. I believe in "climate change." I don't think scientist all agree to a warming" effect...
Which ever it is, EVERYONE needs to change their destructive practices.

11. Better term, maybe, "climate disruption"?
"Instability", "Anarchy", um, "Chaos"?

5. I never thought snow in the city was all that attractive
Mostly, it's just a massive pain in the ass to get around in. These pictures remind me of an early or late snowfall in Boston: heavy, wet stuff that landed you on your arse every few minutes, turned into black slush in gutters, and found its way into every crack in clothing or footwear to make you wet, cold, and eager for spring.

If you want beautiful snow, you need to get to a small town or out in the country.

Really.
