Calif. drive-through worker burned by food prank
Calif. drive-through worker burned by food prank

Associated Press December 6, 2010 04:04 PM

An employee working at the drive-through window of a California restaurant got a face full of hot spinach from a prankster who caused serious burns.

Police say the assailant drove up to a Boston Market drive-through window Friday night in Roseville and threw a hot spinach dish into the face of the 21-year-old worker. The victim was treated at the hospital for second-degree burns inside his ear.

Lt. Michael Doane says the attack appeared to be a prank known as "fire in the hole," in which people video-record themselves throwing food or drinks into the faces of clerks helping them.

Doane described the suspect as a young male who drove a 1980s green, four-door

1. Yeah, like working a fast-food window isn't crappy enough.
Let's make a game out of throwing food at people.

Disgusting perverts.

3. Don't throw him in prison
Garnish his wages -- for life, if necessary -- to pay damages to the victim. He's old enough to know better; this is not a "youthful indiscretion." He can spend the rest of his life regretting this. And none of this "I found Jeebus" shit, either.

4. We have a great country
Where is the video of this punk? Yeah it's on his pathetic face book.

It also would be incredible if Boston Market does not have video of the drive through line and of the employee and the customers.

5. I have no words for how angry this makes me
I used to work a a manager at a fast food place and I can't tell you how much crap we used to take from customers. Fire in the hole, insulting workers with accents, insulting the workers because they must be "stupid", throwing money at them, yelling at them, driving off after ordering a huge order and laughing about it....
I am sorry this man was seriously injured. Some people are just cruel.

7. Does anyone remember Seasme Street?
There used to be these cute animated segments on there of a girl imagining the chain of events that would happen if she did something like pop a balloon....I wish I could remember what they were called....anyway, really someone needs to do those type of animations again to teach kids to think more than one step ahead of the consequences of their actions. Really, not that time consuming and would prevent so many senseless acts such as this one. I mean c'mon, hot food on skin....is it that difficult to imagine the outcome? How on earth could that be viewed as comedy?

Crap, am I old?

8. How sad
A young adult has so little regard for another human being who is just trying to eek out a living by making that person part of a sick little game that they hope will make them famous(to some at least). We escalated from what was classified as pranks just a few years ago and some will still call this a form of a prank.
