I know someone who does that in South Florida. I told him he should branch out lol.

3. At least there is one sailboat there.
The rest of the sailors are probably out actually using or living on their boats. Those big power boats don't leave much because they get about 1/2 mile to the gallon.

6. A nice sloop, actually - reminds me of the one I sailed on in the Chesapeake
back in the early 1970's...except that one was small enough to fit on a trailer.

4. And they can stay idle
Because other people work so hard on their behalf. Inexplicable, but true.

11. "Because other people work so hard on their behalf. Inexplicable, but true."
This has really made me do some thinking on the subject and, while your statement may be true, there are also many people working *because* of the rich. The Island was packed that weekend, with tourists and residents alike. All the shops, restaurants, etc., were booming. If people with money aren't out spending it, people whose very lives depend on their paychecks wouldn't be working. Especially in the service industries.

14. Perhaps
But no matter how wealthy someone is, they're going to buy and eat only one supper. Instead of one person getting a tax break of $22,500 (an additional three cents on the dollar for earnings between $250,000 and $1,000,000), wouldn't it be better for that money to go into the Treasury to help pay for two elective invasions and occupations? Or have the benefit of that money spread among a hundred lower income people, which would translate into an additional $225 per person to be spent on many suppers to help many restaurants.

But as it is, people with money aren't spending it. They're sending it around the world, searching for the best return on investment.

12. I have seen Palm Beach... have you ever seen the Ocean Reef Club?
It's in North Key Largo.. back in the early 80's, you had to be worth at least 2 million dollars, and be voted in by the community, before you could even buy a house there. A *boat slip* was $180,000! I saw golf carts that were mini versions of ferarris, corvettes, a rolls royce and even a stretch limo....

Take a read through their site :hi:
