Not in the "legal" sense, but in a practical manor.

The thousands of angry constituents of a representative (BTW this doesn't depend on party affiliation) wait until their "representative" is at their palatial estate on one of their frequent vacations and simply surround it and keep them there, refusing to let anybody in or out.

It would serve several purposes, a demonstration of their displeasure that can't be ignored and also can't be prepared for and contained, remind them that there are a lot more of us than there are of them and their "protectors", and disrupt the process of corruption. It also overcomes the impracticality of trying to assemble huge numbers of people in a central location, such as Washington DC, where permits are not issued or withdrawn at the last moment or penned into some out of the way spot where they are contained and ignored.

Of course, many of them have helicopter pads or at least the room for one and could effectively escape, with their families, but imagine the reaction to the knowledge that they're not welcome in their home districts. This could be done at their offices, public appearances, etc., they would in effect, become prisoners removed from their havens.

Imagine if the traitorous scumbag Lieberman, for example, knew he simply couldn't go to Connecticut, Or McCain was barred from Arizona.

No bloodshed or violence required, but a definite withdrawal of our consent to be governed by these criminals.

I don't get it; why not have them all appear as close to one another as possible and really try to get to the bottom of things? Like maybe have two or three testify the same week? And use all five days of the work week instead of just one?

They take their orders from Bush, and if they engage in pattern of ignoring subpoenas it is also the President who is answerable for that.

Basically he's racking up a list of grievances against him that reads like the complaints in the Declaration Of Independence. This offense slots into a stack of legal complaints like the one Jefferson toted up against Bush's predecessor and model, King George III, somewhere between:

"He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them."

and

"He has obstructed the Administration of Justice by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers."

A pattern of ignoring subpoenas, which is contempt of Congress, would not be the lead item in your bill of impeachment, but it is a serious breach of the rule of law, a slap in the face to the coequal powers of government created by the Constitution, and as such it is certainly an impeachable misdemeanor of office. List it after conspiring to start a war of aggression and violating the 4th Amendment rights of the citizens of the United States, both of which are high crimes of state and violations of Bush's oath of office to uphold the Constitution and laws of the US.

If the President's subordinates tell lies to a Congressional committee the President cannot control them and prevent them from doing that. But he absolutely controls their fulfilling the subpoena requirements for documentation from Congress. If they do not comply with subpoenas they should be fired. If Bush has not forced them to comply with subpoenas then it is Bush who is in contempt.

I have spent a bit of time reading about how angry everyone is. I'm not that impressed. Sitting in the living room being angry. Let's see, if we don't contribute our time and money then we get the wingnuts controlling everything again. Not good. We need to boycott those who fund candidates who fail to meet our expectations, and we need to let them know we are doing so. Forget addressing the candidate. Regardless of party affiliation, they only want to preserve their own power. Those who really back them financially are the ones with something to lose if thousands refuse to spend their money on what they have to offer.

If you think Reid is impotent, find out his corporate sponsorship and let THEM know that you will not spend any money on their products or services if they continue to support him. CC any candidate who more accurately represents your views so that they can court contributions from that entity.

We can't get the money out of the system, but if we are genuine in our outrage, we can affect where the money goes.
