Letting the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Suck-Ass
I'm seeing a lot of anger on Democratic Underground nowadays - and a lot of it is directed at President Obama on grounds that he is weak, ineffective, and way too conciliatory towards teabaggers and corporatists.

Your anger, collectively pooled, is energy. Energy that can be directed at those within the Democratic Party who have helped to bring this organization to its knees in the name of "compromise."

Just remember that this, more than ever, is truly Democratic Underground. We represent the Democrats nationwide who are slowly shaking their heads at what has been done to our party, who are seeing the promises for "Change We Can Believe In" slowly turning into so much fairy dust and fool's gold.

We have a list. If we feel that list is not being tended to, we have every right to speak up and make ourselves heard. And 2012 will be here before you realize it.

I'm just trying to remind my fellow DUers that there are some 165,000 registered users on this site, and if ALL OF US get off our collective asses and establish an active, raucous, and loud presence in our state and local Democratic clubs and parties, I have to believe that we can start getting more than change as a buzzword - but change that America deserves, not to mention what Mohammedas Gandhi once said about being the change you want to see in the world.

Are you in?

2. Kinda like the famous Railroad Underground...
...where abolitionists worked together, sometimes at great personal risk, to help liberate those who never should have been shackled in the first place.

Maybe we can help liberate the Democratic Party from the chains it has shackled itself with.

3. I'm with you on this one. K&R
Anyone with a brain and a functioning memory should realize that Candidate Obama told us one thing and President Obama is doing the exact opposite!

2012 Primaries!

6. I appreciate it
All we want is some positive consistency from our Democratic officials. Bush was consistent, but in all the wrong ways and for all the wrong reasons.

4. Just FYI -- some of those 165,000 are long gone
Trolls, disruptors, drive-bys, etc.

If there's a core, active membership here of 10,000, I'd be surprised. Pleasantly, but still surprised.

5. I know some of those who are long gone
I keep in touch with a few of them when I am able. Some of them are still in for the fight if the rest of us will do our part.

7. Underground means buried, right?
The day I am sure that our votes are counted as cast, is the day... well, that'll be the day!

9. How about a weekly/monthly mass mailing campaign to congress critters?
Or a letter writing campaign to a single polluting company asking them to change their ways and green it up a bit.

Activists Corner. Is there one already on DU (I haven't even checked!).
