Dear Democrats (from Firedoglake)
(Note to mods - I didn't know if I had to follow the "4 paragraph rule" on this one or not. Cutting this down to only 4 paragraphs wouldn't capture the flavor of this piece. Please delete or whatever you feel is appropriate to keep this within the correct rules.)

<snip>
Dear Democrats,

We are very put out with you right now. In fact, maybe you ought to go spend the night at your sister's house. Or go sleep on the couch, at the very least.

Before we left for work, we asked you to do one thing, and one thing only. Stop the war. Miinimum wage, that could have waited. Immigration reform, urgent, but not killing thousands of people each month. Lobbying reform, well, if you would just bring our soldiers home, frankly, we don't give a shit how much golf you fly off to Scotland to play.

The War in Iraq is a meat-grinder. Every hour that it goes on, somebody's kid dies in vain or loses his arm or leg, and for what? For nothing. Anything we manage to accomplish there for good or ill will be undone within a month after we finally do leave.

All we asked you to do is stop the President before he gets everyone killed. You didn't do that. You laid here on the damn couch all day, again, doing bong hits and playing PS3.

We could say that we're not angry at you, just very disappointed. But, actually, we're very angry. Very, very angry.

Go to your sister's. We'll call your sorry asses when we're damn good and ready.

And we might not call you at all.

Have a nice Memorial Day weekend. We're going to spend it not thinking about you.

Good night,

TRex and the Rest of Us, Your Former Shmoops.

P.S. DO NOT CALL AND ASK ME FOR MONEY. Then it really is over. Ask your damn mother for some money. And tell her I'm sick of doing her goddamn job.

1. Captures how a lot of us a feeling very neatly!
:applause:

As a side note, I wonder how to apply the 4-paragraph rule when each paragraph is a short sentence. Let's say you adhered to the spirit of the 4-paragraph rule.O8)

3. Usually blogs request that you make sure you give them credit
there is no four paragraph rule for blogs.

But it is a big no no if you don't give the blogger the credit and also give the blogger the link.

Firedoglake is great.

2. weak, pathetic cowards, all of em
i know that i'll never donate time or money to the Democratic Party ever again. i will to specific individuals or candidates who didn't vote for this travesty...but never to the party itself.

5. what's really infuriating me is the image I have of . . .
Democrats who voted for more war sitting down over lunch today, or getting together at the Congressional gym, and assuring each other that despite the thousands upon thousands of outraged calls and e-mails they've all received, it will all blow over and things will be fine . . .

"It'll pass -- it always does. They'll get over it. These people have nowhere else to go. Don't worry; just another little storm to weather -- a tempest in a teapot."

I know that these kinds of conversations are taking place and, beyond the vote itself, that's what's REALLY enraging me today . . .

as we enter Memorial Day weekend, when we honor our war dead, Congress has just ensured that by this time next year, there will be thousands more to honor . . . not to mention the tens of thousands of Iraqis who will die -- with no one to honor them ("collateral damage," don'tcha know) . . .

it's all so fucking disgusting I could just puke . . .

7. Id say it was more akin to doing the plumber
after playing with the PS3 and doing bong hits. They cheated on us a good many of us and thats the sad sad truth.

I just wonder how many happy jacks here at DU and Kos that think it was pretty much acceptable and that you have comitted some sort of thought crime for wanting to leave the party after this.... I wonder how many of them called their reps and told them to vote yes??? I mean if this was such a done deal and quite ok with that crowd.... In my mind there are now 2 democratic parties united on most domestic issues and deeply at odds now over foreign policy.

If I have one more party blind faithing loyalist tell me how wrong I am for not supporting the capitulation... well I guess all I can do is laugh at their hypocrisy and the obscenity of political expediancy and triangulation.

9. I like the sentence about CALLING for money
We should send all those emails back and tell them to let the president sign their funding request.
