It's high time we organized under one leader who will not betray or
fail us. The question is: Out of the current batch of those who are running, who can we trust? Can we trust any of them?

Oh, Al. When will you answer your door, where duty and more service are knocking, and open up some new opportunities for America?

4. Gore/Feingold
If it was Gore/Feingold i'd get off my fat ass and do something during the election.

The only current politician I can think of off the top of my head who has been right on the war, and on our
cying civil liberties is Russ.

5. That would be Clark and Gore, both of whom unfortunately seem not to
be running. Kucinich as well, but I'm not confident he has skills needed.

6. Who do you want to die in a small plane accident?
That is their politico-reality.

7. It's probably not the case that the leader "betrayed" you, but others refusing to follow the leaders

I don't think this worked out the way Pelosi and Reid planned it or wanted it to work out. They both looked today like somebody shot their dog.

You've got on the one hand some cases of Democrats who genuinely piss themselves in fear at the thought of Republicans saying that they didn't support the troops. And on the other hand there are Democrats who seized on the opportunity to get White House deals on pet projects, pork and appropriations for their districts/states/contributors in exchange for their yes vote.
It only takes a few sellouts and cowards to start the ball rolling and soon the unified front to oppose Bush is gone. People rush to grab what they can. The stampede of sellouts will trigger an avalanche of cowards as the fearful realize they are going to have less and less support around them. "Organizing under one leader who will not betray us" misses the problem. The problem is, why do Democrats betray their own principles and constituencies? Or if that is too loaded for you, why do elected Democrats undermine their leaders and lose all the advantages of party solidarity?

Aside from their natural advantages in fundraising the Republicans do one thing very well which gives them an edge over Democrats, and that is they have party discipline and solidarity.

8. No, thanks.
Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely. Besides, I like the grassroots the way they are.
