First, that it "seems so obvious". Yet it is not at all obvious to much of the American public. Many of them just voted for Republicans in the last election, and are prepared to do so again in the next one.
Second, that "it makes you angry". Anger often tends to make people unreasonable. Just because a person is angry does not mean they are right.
Then put the two together and often it seems that the progressive blogosphere's main message is "fukk all the a$$holes and morons who disagree with me or us". This tends to make us feel good. Hell, yeah. We are right. We are righteous. We are smart. Yet it tends not to convince the larger public. It does nothing, generally to teach them WHY we are right. It does nothing to convince them to support our politicians and our policies. It just convinces them that we are full of ourselves and we are hateful.
But then there is the other message too. Suppose I wanted to convince somebody to NOT vote for a Democrat. How could I do that? What if I just had them read DU for half a year? If they did that, they would learn
1) Democrats are just the same as Republicans (thus, why bother to vote for them? much less donate for them or volunteer for them?)
2) Obama is a POE (piece of excrement). He's an idiot. He's a wimp. He's a liar. He might even be a corporate plant.
3) Pelosi is a POE. She's a liar. She's a wimp. She might even be a corporate plant.
4) Harry Reid is a POE. He's a liar. He's a wimp. He might even be a corporate plant.
5) Tom Daschle would be a POE if the voters of SD hadn't done us all a favor by defeating that pathetic shell of a man.
6) That a bunch of us are really mad at the Democratic Party and you should be too.
Well, after 6 months of that, he/she would certainly be a fool to waste their time supporting a Democrat.
Of course, you might say "but we just want the tax cuts for the wealthy to expire" or "we just want to end DADT".
Curiously enough it seems to me that many Republicans in Congress are gonna be voting against those things. Perhaps some anger should be directed at them? It also seems to me that persuasive essays might do more good than bombastic rants that are so popular here. I have certainly tried to do that on the tax cut issue.

If I had the chance, I'd ask the world to dance and not be talking with myself.
Of course, this one was not an OP, although I sorta covered the topic of your thread here
