Is Mark Ruffalo really on a terror watch list?
Source: MSNBC

Nope, according to Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency

Reports have been popping up this week that the low-key, critically adored indie king has been deemed a possible terror threat and had his name added to a terror watch list compiled by, of all places, the Pennsylvania Office of Homeland Security.

"His name is not in any of our bulletins," Maria A. Smith, the spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "There is no list, we never even had a list."
And even if they did, Ruffalo's name probably wouldn't be on it. Still, any publicity...

1. There is no way to find out whether he is or isn't. That's one of the problems with the list.

2. Um... so how would *he* know if he is or is not then?

He is the only one who has made this claim.

3. He doesn't really know
You can surmise that you might be on it based on how you are treated at airports, but there is no process for formally finding out if you are.

5. So making the claim that he is on the list is... a guess on his part?

He didn't even explain how he came to this conclusion. I'm just not buying it.

6. There is no due process, no administrative review, no way to challenge your status on the list
It's a mystery, shrouded in an enigma, wrapped up in a warm whole-wheat flour tortilla.

7. I agree. There's also no way he would know such a thing.
I don't hate him. I like him quite a bit and I found Gasland to be very informative and I think as many people should see it as possible. It smells like a publicity stunt to me - which is fine cuz that's what people do.

HOWEVER, lies and/or half-truths propagated by people who want to stir up or monopolize anti-government hatred in an environment where that's all the rage (TSA, Wikigate) makes me suspicious.

11. It doesn't matter to me whether he was on a list or not.
It is a fact that the POHS was targeting environmental groups as potential terrorists.

The most important aspect of this for me has been that it has brought about increased publicity for Gasland. Pennsylvania is being destroyed by the Cheney/Halliburton fracking parasites. Far too many people are oblivious to the damage being done to the land, air and water here in PA as well as all of the other states where fracking is taking place.

We now have a Gov. Elect who accepted about $1,000,000 from these "clean energy" crooks and liars.

I say that if it takes a publicity stunt or even a lie to try to get the word out about what's being done, then so be it. People who care about the environment were called liars and terrorists by our government. Sometimes you have to adopt the enemies methods in order to expose the truth.

greater good? I am sure the other side sees their causes to be just as noble. We very much disagree on this tactic. It's not about "playing fair" - it's about focusing on the facts and truth rather than being distracted by lies and hyperbole and IT COULD HAPPEN stories. It's about not playing the "fear-mongering" card - leave that to the GOP.

13. As I said, POHS had no compunction in treating environmentalists
as potential terrorists. Mr. Ruffalo has the ability to generate publicity due to our adoration of celebrities in this country.

People should have realized that an actor saying something doesn't automatially make it the truth. What it did accomplish was to generate discussion. To those of us watching the destruction taking place here in PA, the discussion might shed some light on just how evil fracking is.

If that's considered the same as Bush and Cheney and the lies that they used to kill an untold number of human beings, then maybe people need to get their priorities in order.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this. As has been pointed out, there's no way to determine if he was on a list or not. It has been verified that people such as Sierra Club, Audubon Society and other well known "terrorist" organizations were being spied on by our government. That and the Marcellus destruction taking place are what Mr. Ruffalo was helping to expose. If a little hyperbole by an actor brings this to the attention of more people, then I have no problem with it.
