Fox Nation complains about "Obama's live-in pastry chef" (Actually served since 2007)
"Poor Bill Yosses. He's the White House pastry chef. He makes desserts for a living. He works for Barack and Michelle Obama. They talk about healthy eating. All the time. Sounds like a recipe for disaster, right?

Not at all. Yosses' creations -- especially his pies -- have won over even the Obamas."

Whoops.

It turns out that Marie Obamanette's* pastry chef, Bill Yosses, is actually a holdover from the Bush White House. The same article that Fox Nation linked to states that Yosses "arrived at the White House in January 2007." It also reports, "Yosses, 56, doesn't cook just for the Obamas. His team whips up treats for dozens, hundreds and thousands of guests attending a never-ending stream of parties, receptions and other special events at the White House."

Okay, so maybe Fox Nation was being misleading when they failed to mention that Obama didn't create the office of the White House executive pastry chef. But at least they didn't just flat-out make up anything, right? Well, nothing in the AP article supports Fox Nation's claim that the pastry chef actually lives at the White House. In fact, the New York Daily News recently photographed Yosses "at his home" in DC.

Come on, guys. If you can't even make the small, trivial lies convincing, how are you supposed to sell us the big ones?

1. And if the Obamas had left Yosses go
Fox would be complaining that the Obamas cost this chef his job and would have been whining that the Obamas don't care about unemployment.

2. Republicons are such total freaking HYPOCRITES

Whining their asses off now - while applauding their dimwit AWOL Bush for the same thing.

Republicons need to stop whining, pull themselves up by their own doughnuts, and do something for America.

3. They will create "controversy" out of ANYTHING
I am so glad Media Matters gets on top of this never-ending stream of bullshit, but honestly! And you just know that some other "news" outlet will pick up the story of Chef Yosses, ignore the spin, and pretend like there's a story there, too. And it will get circulated, refined, amplified, and morphed all out of shape. We'll suddenly hear about the White House having an executive chef in charge of soylent green confections (or worse, one specializing in Kenyan *wink* cuisine), and nobody will wonder where in the hell such a ridiculous story came from. But they'll all repeat it: Brian and Katie and Diane, with stand-ups from the White House correspondents to tell us all the breathless details.

4. I'm pretty sure the position of 'White House Pastry Chef' goes way back
Edited on Tue Nov-30-10 11:58 AM by blogslut
The tradition of creating a Christmas Gingerbread house started in 1969:

?w=500&h=285

I'd bet that our presidents have had pastry chefs on staff since at least the 1800's.

6.  Roland Mesnier was WH Executive Pastery Chef for 25 years
Edited on Tue Nov-30-10 12:15 PM by Tippy
Let’s be honest: Americans are obsessed with life in the White House — from what presidents eat to behind-the-scenes gossip about events. And who better to share such stories than Roland Mesnier, the White House executive pastry chef for 25 years?

Mesnier dishes on the presidents he served: Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, in a memoir called, “All the Presidents’ Pastries: Twenty-Five Years in the White House,”

7. My wife's cousin,Thaddeus DuBois, was the Pastry Chef before Bill Yosses.
You should see the pics of the easter baskets he made for her kids one year. Everything was edible, including the green grass.

8. They're not selling those lies to you...there are other "buyers"
Newt Gingrich systematized this: say anything (ANYTHING) that will stir up outrage and loathing in your base, and point them against your political opponent(s).

It doesn't rely on facts, because the people it relies on aren't interested in facts, at least not when they're together as a self-reinforcing group
