Calling Dr. Dean - are you listening?

Your Party is in serious jeopardy of fracturing. Tonight's sell-out vote to capitulate on ending the war in Iraq was poison to the base of progressives who went to the polls in mass last November to change the landscape in Washington. Right now all it looks like is that we re-arranged the deck chairs on the Titanic. No amount of spinning is going to sugar coat this one. It is now obvious to all who the power brokered Dems are and that the DLC is still riding herd. It seems that we are left with only two options. The first and most viable would be to change the make up of the Party. This will require intense work behind the scenes to "target" those within our ranks who betray us and all that we stand for. How to do this? With the help of the DNC we must recruit progressive candidates in every district in which a DLC'er currently reigns and vye for every seat come next primary season. We must marshal the forces of the blogger word to run ads and other pr campaigns to let everyone in that district know that their rep is a bought and paid for traitor. They must feel our wrath and they must pay for their betrayal.
Option 2 is one most of us would call "heaven forbid". That is we actually create a third major party consisting of progressives and all those who feel alienated from both major parties. I think there is enough support now for such an effort, but it will need to have leaders with credibility and guts to make it happen. It is very clear the pendulum is moving in that direction and unless something is done inside to "fix the party" this pendulum is destined to pick up speed.
So Dr. Dean, are you listening? If so give us a sign that you hear us and can help. Otherwise step aside, because the will of the people will prevail, one way or another.
