2. Why did none of them raise this issue?
Tell Bush if he wants his fucking money, then he'd better be raising the fucking taxes to come up with it. See if Americans really want this fucking war.

10. Got a link to where serious deliberation was given to putting a tax hike in the bill
to pay for it?

And despite their nice posters, half of the 16 members of the group (Boren, Shuler, Herseth, Giffords, Altmire, Gillibrand, Wasserman-Schultz, and Meek) had no problems authorizing another $100 billion dollars of debt so that more Americans can get killed and injured in Iraq.

3. Their speeches mean nothing - it's the vote that counts
(except if you're in Florida or Ohio.)

4. For that matter, they should have asked exactly where it was going
Perhaps to KB&R so the troops can have more contaminated food and water? More payments to "contractors"? Just exactly what are the troops going to get out of this.

7. Good point.
We hear a lot about war-profiteering, corruption, and other abuses. Where are the sharp teeth in this bill to put that to an end?

5. Diverted from cancer research,
Katrina victims, armor for our troops, AIDS research, education (whoops, scratch that one: Congress doesn't want an educated electorate), shoring up Social Security, better salaries for our troops, Alzheimers research, a national plan providing for catastrophic health insurance, fixing Walter Reed and other dysfunctional VA Hospitals, border security (screening for terrorists not illegal aliens), fixing aging roads, bridges, electrical grids and other infrastructure issues, energy projects and research to stave off Global Warming, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc. Let's just tax the shit out of the middle class and pour it all down the blackholes of Iraq, Halliburton, etal. No accounting. No end.

added to the ongoing mountain of debt. I'm just curious how long the public believes 'WE' can go on blowing trillions of dollars 'WE' don't have before the whole damn US economic and financial system crashes into a black hole abyss.

14. Well you know damn well if that $100 billion were to go towards health care
the ONLY thing we'd have heard about is people whining "where's the money coming from?"

Gotta love the double standard.

I have no idea where this money is going to come from.
I was never someone who was opposed to taxes. As someone who always believed that taxes are the lifeblood of social welfare programs, I never minded them.
But in the Bush years, I have started really resenting paying taxes. I really hate a cent of mine going towards blowing someone's legs off in Iraq x(, while our social programs are under-funded and war veterans get next to no support.
