1. Shouldn't they be impeaching him instead?

2. Joint Resolution 14
Joint Resolution 14. expressing the sense of the Senate, that the Attorney General Alberto Gonzales no longer holds the confidence of the Senate, or the American People.

Durbin introduced it, it had its 'first reading', and then Durbin objected to it himself (no one else seemed to be in the room), and next it will be read first business day following (paraphrasing)

15. Doing nothing, which yields the same results with lesser effort.

22. I disagree. No confidence vote means something, in that arena.
Conflating disappointment with the Iraq war funding compromise with our options in other areas is self-defeating from the git go, if that's you're point.

The clearest, immediate message re: Gonzales Congress, as a whole, can send, outside impeachment, is a no confidence vote.

I support it.

9. Sounds like the politicians we voted for need something to make
themselves stand up straight... and I am not hinting at viagra... rather something that will help them stand up for their perceived convictions.

10. So sad that his introduction of this Congressional shaming of Gonzo comes after a really awful
brokered vote for war funding.

It's a good start in digging Gonzo out of his trench, but it's going to be completely overshadowed.

"We passed the war funding, but here you go, we'll get Gonzo instead."

18. I know what you mean.
There may have been votes swapped on the funding legislation to assure passage of this no confidence resolution. At this point, I wouldn't put anything past our politicians.

14. So fucking what?
The Executive Branch doesn't give a fuck what the Senate thinks.

Even if they did and Gonzales resigned, they'll just find some other right-wing asshole to replace him.
