3. Thanks for posting these threads.
It's hard wading through everything. I guess Durbin is voting yes, which is damn disappointing. REALLY hope Obama votes no, but then he doesn't want to offend families with kids in Iraq. This is definitely a rock and a hard place situation. I am old enough to remember it happening again and again during Vietnam.

4. I was wondering about Congress during Vietnam

How often did the Vietnam war take up Senate/House debate?

I was an infant during that time.

5. It was so long ago that I really can't remember.
Edited on Thu May-24-07 07:36 PM by greatauntoftriplets
Sorry about that!

On edit: Remember, though, that Vietnam went on for a lot longer time than Iraq has...so far. Antiwar sentiment on Congress' part has come much sooner. The fact that they even passed the vetoed bill is good news. Too bad the Democrats don't have a veto-proof majority.

6. That's the downside of running for president
You have to win over certain groups of people. Though I hope Obama votes no.

18. They both voted after it had already passed.
Typical DLC Dems. No leadership. No spine. Just empty pandering.
