BUZZFLASH EDITOR'S BLOG FOR TRUTHOUT BY MARK KARLIN

No one wants to be groped in order to board an airplane or go through a body scan that will cause exposure to radiation (although the level of danger is subject to a hot debate).

And it doesn't help public opinion that bigwigs like John Boehner, Barack Obama and airline pilots can bypass both - and many of the super rich avoid such intrusive security searches by flying their private or corporate jets. Furthermore, BuzzFlash has documented how the profiteering of former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff played a key role in the government purchase of the euphemistically named "Advanced Imaging Technology."

Nevertheless, it is important to remember that the current outrage -- while personally understandable -- against the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) intrusive technology and pat-downs just happens to fit the anti-government narrative of both the Tea Party and mainstream Republicans in Congress.

But...that's what happens when people get spoon fed their opinions and get led by the nose on what to be outraged about.

5. So, you supported Bush when these machines were opposed
by the left back in 2004? You agreed with the right that were no threat to civil rights and were completely Constitutional?

Or were you part of the very successful fight to keep them out of our lives by Civil Rights orgs for the past six years as most Liberals were?

I see the Corporate manipulation has begun. Big Business finally prevailed over the Constitution this past year and as soon as the Corporate whores who are profiting from these abuses of our rights saw the unity of the American people, they rushed to divide and conquer. It took them a few days but we did predict it would happen.

Just curious about where you stood when Bush was the one pushing this unnecessary, police state equipment for profit while the Left was fighting his efforts?

6. This isn't about the people who enforce the rules, it's about the rules themselves
Any contractor is just going to do the same exact thing that the TSA agents are doing now.

Only they'll be paid less and be even more cranky.

7. Number 1, TSA was THEIR invention. number 2, we started with
privatized security in the airports....that is how we got into this mess. So does this mean they are finally going to admit THEY screwed up??? uh huh.... and pigs will fly and copulate in the air before Christmas!
