GOP lawmaker: Full-body scanners violate Fourth Amendment
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/129651-gop-lawmaker-full-body-scanners-violate-fourth-amendment

A GOP lawmaker said Tuesday the full-body scanners now employed by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) violate the Fourth Amendment to the constitution, which protects against "unreasonable searches and seizures."

During a one-minute speech on the House floor, Rep. Ted Poe (Texas) also blasted former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff as a "political hack" and accused him of profiting from the proliferation of the devices.

"There is no evidence these new body scanners make us more secure. But there is evidence that former Homeland Security Chief Michael Chertoff made money hawking these full body scanners," Poe said.

He went on to explain that Chertoff, who served under President George W. Bush, had given interviews promoting the scanners while he was "getting paid" to sell them.

4. Hey, after the Browns beat the Patriots ...
I can believe that almost anything can happen ...

But I'm not putting a dollar on Right-Wingers gaining sanity at any point, despite the astronomical payout. I'd have better odds hitting the MegaMillions tonight, and the Powerball tomorrow night.

3. One question. Why now Mr. Poe?
Why wasn't this scum saying something when this was proposed when Bush was president?

6. Finally -- a place for bipartisanship.
Why are progressive, liberal Democrats -- who are dedicated to civil liberties -- letting the right-wing fearmongers steal this issue?

Democrats need to get out in front of this parade and insist that TSA dial-back this ridiculous over reaction.

This is a highly visible, easy to understand, pro-people issue -- Democrats in Washington need to join with Repuglicans to stop the x-rays and gropings.

7. Because no one was complaining about this when it was being done to dark skinned people since 9/11
Complaining now reeks of Republican hypocrisy.

8. Repuglican hypocrisy.
Those words are synonyms ... 'Republican' and 'hypocrisy'.

Nevertheless, this is how the politics craft is practiced successfully: Democrats can use the newly found Repuglican outrage over these searches to do the right thing and do something for civil liberties.
