Did anyone see the Medicare Open Enrollment ad on MSNBC tonight?
Happy Senior Citizen couple talking about the "new benefits from the Health Care Bill". Heaven forbid that the Administration or the Democrats could have run an ad like this during the election...

2. Yeah, I've seen the ad
and thought the same thing. Certainly would have been helpful before the election!

3. There were ads about the health care law during the election.
For the life of me I can't recall who was running them, but yes, there were advertisements about such things as access for those of us with pre-existing conditions, grown children who wanted to stay on the family insurance plan, etc.

I don't watch much besides MSNBC and PBS, so I think it was on MSNBC that I saw them.

7. As I said, I'm not in a position to judge their placement.
I don't recall who ran the ads, and I certainly don't know how many channels they ran on.

The thing is, we're up against talk radio, plus the general media tendency to repeat lies and myths rather than debunking them. The same people who totally bought into the "Al Gore claims he invented the Internet" meme and relentlessly hammered us with it in 2000 treated an outright lie by Sarah Palin in the opposite fashion (Remember Kathleen Parker joking about putting Sarah Palin's death panels against Louise Slaughter's constituents' stories of health care hardships?).

So it's not that there were informational health care reform ads; it's just that it's an uphill battle to get the news out.

8. I don't think the ads would have been terribly effictive because
the underlying Medicare Part D is such a nightmare for seniors. The POTUS obviously tried to fix it, but the answer is 1 plan that covers all drugs. Ever gone to a pharmacy and watched an old person being told the prescription they're picking up isn't covered on their insurance? I saw 2 in a row the day I dropped by for a flu shot.
