4. Best Gaget Evea...

Your TV-B-Gone® universal remote control resembles other TV remote controls, but is different in two important ways. First, it only has a power button that allows you to switch a TV on or off. You control when you see, rather than what you see. Second, the device is so small that it easily fits in your pocket, so that you have it handy whenever you need it wherever you go: airports, bars, restaurants, laundromats, etc.

TV-B-Gone Pro SHP (Gen 4)
Universal Remote Control

The New TV-B-Gone Pro SHP (Super High Power)—a marvel to behold! Features include:

* Turn off TVs up to 110 meters away!
* Includes all Gen4 TV-B-Gone Power codes for North America and Europe, covering well over 90% of all TVs in the world!
* One model for all countries!
* Small, Light-weight, looks like MP3 player!
* With small powerful rechargeable battery (charger included)

5. Was there anyone else watching them? If so, did you give them the
courtesy of suggesting/requesting channel change and/or teevee shutdown? Or, did you simply impose your preference on them.

If you were just dropping something off, were you going to stay and be exposed to the teevee? Could you have simply dropped your stuff off and left?

I cannot buy into the idea of "People are wrong if they don't think, do, watch as I do so I must impose my will upon them."

6. Televisions in public spaces are imposing on the public in the first place..
Not every member of the public wants to watch the same thing and those businesses that put televisions out are imposing their choices on what is often an unwilling audience.

I'm reminded of the time I went to a mental health professional and ended up walking out of their waiting room because they had a TV there that was tuned to Jerry Springer, the conflict on that show was unbearable to me in the precarious state of mind I was in at the time. My time and effort spent arranging an appointment, traveling to the location and returning home was wasted and my mental problems were exacerbated by over the top nature of the program on in the waiting room.

8. If it is a business waiting room (dentist, car dealer, etc.) isn't it

business owners space?

Can not a viewing customer request a channel change, or bring a book to read?

Is it really the courteous thing to do for a person who is simply dropping things off for that person to impose his will on the patrons of that business?

Jerry Springer 'guests' were not really people in conflict. They were paid, much like the people on the other teevee shows with violence are paid.

9. What if the business owner decided to put porn on the TV in the waiting room?
Would that be acceptable to you?

I personally would have rather seen non violent porn than Jerry Springer, whether the "guests" on that show are really in conflict or not it was a horrendously poor choice of programming to have on in a place where people with mental problems are going to be spending time.

I'm a very frequent reader and can block out a lot of things but some TV programs are just so insidiously awful that even a good book won't make them go all the way away.

Is it a courteous thing to do for a business owner to impose their choice of programming on a customer who may have a viscerally negative reaction to that programming? Courtesy works both ways, it's not just a one way street.
