3. He may be, but he won't be part of this administration
It's pretty clear he was kicked out on his ass. That's what happen when you fail at each and every level of your job.

4. How is it clear that he was kicked out? He left in order to run for mayor. nt

7. Sure he did.

That's why he didn't even bother to check if he met the residency requirements.

The mayor story was leaked shortly after Rahm botched the healthcare debate. I'm late for work, so you'll have to look this up yourself, but following the failure of the first bill, some anonymous White House source (clearly Rahm) put out quotes blaming Obama for the failure and absolving Rahm of all blame. Shortly after that, the rumors about him running for mayor broke.

It's a pretty clear kick out the door, but with the Obama-esque flourish of waiting to make sure it ruffled the fewest feathers possible.

11. Well, a little feather-ruffling might have gotten more voters to the polls...
If that's really what happened.

12. Don't get me started on the myriad ways in which this election was botched.

6. How do you know he didn't leave because it was "mission accomplished"?
Any chance of big "change" was ruined, the GOP back in the saddle.

8. My favorite thing about Rahm Emanuel
is his perennial ability to absolutely convince everyone else in the world that he is their sworn ideological enemy.

14. I agree with you that with Rahm it's all about (his) ideology. A true believer.
In an earlier generation, he would have been Scoop Jackson.

15. I don't believe I've ever had occasion to use "Rahm," and "favorite," in the same sentence. nt

5. I'm pretty sure Rahm already knew he wasn't African-American.
Not a surprising development.

16. Yes, but he probably wasn't aware the voters would notice. He thinks he's a master mind. And he is..
in his own mind.

No worries. I'm sure there's some cushy job in banking or the health care industry if he wants it.

9. I'm not sorry. I can't resist. I think he is 50% responsible for the strange void of
communication that came out of the WH.

Wasn't he the guy that said fuck the netroots?

13. He's going to look like an out of touch carpetbagger against Gery Chico,
another declared candidate. Chico is very smart and knows the inner and outer workings of city governing going back two decades.

I heard him on the local progressive radio station over the weekend and he was way on top of all the questions plus he has lots of ideas how to improve the city's financial condition and they didn't involve privatizing city services which we all know costs more in the long run.

Chico is a born and bred Chicago neighborhood guy and can have appeal to many areas while Rambo comes from Winnetka, one of the snootiest of snooty north shore suburbs.

17. I was in Chicago over the weekend and Rahm's minions were on the streets......
..... asking passers-by if they wanted him on the ballot. I told one of them, "I'm from Michigan, but if I lived in Chicago, my answer would be no."
