Does anyone believe he's going to say the surge is NOT working?
Does anyone seriously think that junior is gonna change his mind come September?

maybe the democrats in the Senate believe it.

I don't believe in shrub, Petreaus, the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus.

sorry kids.

3. It will be a rerun we have heard for more then three years
Just give us another six months. Just six more months. Petraeus wants to hurry up and get his two years time in grade so he can drop his retirement papers and get that O-10 retirement pay.

4. Oh well we can't leave NOW after we've made so much progress!
that would be just throwing the lives of our fallen soldiers into history's landfill.
300+ soldiers have paid the ultimate price that gullibility pays to guile since President Usurping-Mass-Murdering-Traitor announced his surge policy.
Think of HOW MUCH MORE PROGRESS there'll be come September!

14. Great question; who knows? It seems obvious to me their
goals are long-term, they want to win in 08, so what's the hurry, what's a few more dead bodies. It's all going to be blamed on this admin, our Dems are acting like they don't care. I'm sorry, but I'm getting very disillusioned. The welfare of the soldiers should be their primary concern, and that means stopping this illegal occupation, not to continue paying for it.

10. I don't think he will ever state that his surge plan didn't work
He and the White House will try to cherry pick some statistics that they can spin into making the surge look like it accomplished some progress.

But even if Petraeus in September were to say that the surge idea was a complete failure, Bush would only replace him with someone else with a so-called brilliant plan and then tell America that he doesn't question the Generals and neither should they.

17. If he did, he would be the first general in history to say "o fuckit, this ain't working"
"and it's not worth extending this failure just to save my face a while longer."

As long as they aren't being driven from the field--ie, fearing for their own lives--they always think the slaughter of more young men is called for and that victory is around the corner.

12. He can't say it
Because they can't let it be true. Iraq is screwn beyond belief. The government is useless, and the only security (joke intended) is knowing American soldiers & mercenaries have weapons.

As Robert Fisk so brilliantly put it, "...the Americans can't stay, but the Americans can't leave". So what next for the neocon nightmare? Increase the bloodshed by forcing an "incident" with Iran. Declare all out war? Reinstate the draft? Settle the US into the Middle East for the forseeable future? God Almighty.

16. The script is already written.
I'd love to think he'd go off script and tell americans the truth but he needs to be able to retire and get that mutli-millon dollar defense contractor position.

Why would they have plans for the next two years?
