NY and CA governorships: Back To The Future - 2010
Andrew Cuomo has just won the NY governorship his father Mario lost in 1994 to a small-town hack named George Pataki (aka the "coat-holder" for Giulini and Bloomberg during 9/11)

Jerry Brown was governor of CA before Reagan was POTUS. Reagan today is dead and turning into mold. Jerry Brown is still among us and will be the new (old?) CA governor.

Ain't Life Grand?

1. The good news is we won...
CA, NY and Illinois too.

The bad news, those states are in terrible financial shape and cleaning up the mess is going to be hideously painful.

With a Republican US House of Representatives, there is absolutely going to be no more aid to the states, so things are going to get very rough.

The Republican's best shot to win in those states will be in upcoming cycles.

Still, the best time to have the power is during these really meaningful times - and we are more trusted by the voters to deal with the tough issues.

2. Brown knows how to work the California system
And he's too old to have any overriding ambition other than to make his final act pulling the state out of the mud. I'm delighted!

What you say about the Repubs cutting off state aid is true enough. He'll have to figure out how to bulk up its revenue from inside.
