Poll question: Poll: Have You Ever Taught a College Course
It says a lot.

Have you ever taught a course or part of a course at an accredited junior-college, college, or university?

5. Full-time job
You might want to add the option:

Yes-it is/was my full time job (or profession).

Of course, I know it sounds smarmy, but I still consider it a privilege to teach--at any level (and, yes, I'm obviously a teacher--currently University level, but I taught in a public high school as well).

6. Yes, am teaching now...
....well, not LITERALLY now, as it's summer, and I'm adjunct. Which sucks, by the way. I work twice as hard for half the pay, and have no benefits. But I love teaching, so there you are.

10. That would be a YES .... a good mix of posters here ....
Runs the spectrum. Some here with the knowledge and training to teach others, and some here who possess neither but know more than anyone else.

I am constantly amazed at the presence of true heroes(ie. whistleblowers) who appear here. Also there are posters here carrying out the function of the free press which the MSM ignores.

And after spending some time here, those with another agenda appear right on cue and post the same 'concerns' about Democratic candidates, and promote Republican talking points in criticism of our Democratic candidates.

What a marketplace of ideas! I think the 'original framers' would be pleased!

12. I've subbed a couple of classes. I'm invited to visit as a guest lecturer sort of thing sometimes.
I've never actually taught a full semester, however.

13. Does it say that we're a bunch of ivory tower eggheads?
;-)

Those of us who have are a lot more likely to click on the thread and vote in the poll, so the percentage doesn't mean much. The absolute number of people who vote yes might tell you something. Like others, I'm interested in what you think it will say.

22. This poll could be even more interesting if
you asked people's impressions of the skill levels of their students in writing and conceptual thinking. Given the ongoing thread dispute between those who are crying grade inflation and those who are offended as teachers by those claims, it would be interesting to see a wider sample of the impressions of college instructors of their students' readiness for college level work.
