2. I think there was a mandate to do something about the
economy. That's the bottom line. The GOP have promised a better economic future which they won't be able to deliver. I expect some wild swinging between the parties until the economy gets better.

5. I realize that and you realize that, but people do strange things
when they're scared. It was a very emotional vote that had nothing to do with reality for a lot of people. That's why we're seeing this wild vacillation right now.

6. Just interrupt the teabaggers who are gloating with, "WHY hasn't the GOP changed anything yet?!?!?!"
I know, I know - they don't get sworn in until January. But there's a fair chance that the teabagger idiots don't KNOW that. Besides, it brings home a good point. You can't expect overnight change. Bush fucked up the country over the course of 8 years and made all previous deficits look like pocket change. Did they really expect Obama to fix that in two years with GOP Senators who blocked more legislation than (don't have the figures in front of me), something like the last 10 Congresses combined? Whatever the actual numbers, it was certainly a record and it was all about saying "NO".

4. That is correct
People are very confused and concerned. That might be the message. People are very dissatisfied with the entire political scene on the national level.

It would have been interesting if a "get rid of every politician in D.C. and start over" campaign had been running alongside the others. What numbers would that campaign have amassed?
