"Democrats outspent by 7 to 1"
I recall seeing that on DU a while back ago. It sounds too large to be accurate, but who knows? Can anyone here on DU spare much tedious Googling, by pointing me to authentic figures?

2. Thanks, but that doesn't help me one bit.
I'm still looking for some figures that I can use in a "hostile" venue.

9. It's not why we lost...not the money....
Look at Whitman, Fiori( spelling?), and McManhon.....didn't work for them...It was Foxx miss-information, blayton false campaign ads and a weak preforming Democratic Congress who couldn't open the window of Hope and Change. The Congressional Democrats squandered their position, behaved often like the repugs with selfish, greedy support of business and not we the people. They never saw the repugs for the Killer Bees that they are...and got slaughtered for their weakness.

16. The SCOTUS gave the GOPers open go ahead with regard to spending
pol support...Whitless and her own spending was a foolish effort ...her comments indicated a drama queen of the worst order...

The GOPers spent their money wisely to deframe the entire Dem Party with built up BS...focusing on building the atmosphere of failure..

It worked...

17. Big Biz running our country
Of course the Dem's where out spent. We always are. Doesn't help that we cannot get real campaign finance reform done and a supreme court that would actual support full disclosure, transparency and stop allowing rulings to be put in place where MONEY can buy government, policy and an entire country!!!!

3. And What Did They Get In Return??
They spent nearly a half billion dollars to buy the House...and mostly off the back of Blue Dogs. To win in 2012 they'll need all this money times two or three. How much is it worth it to the Kochs and others? And with it came scrutiny they didn't expect.

Here's hoping folks like CREW and intrepid journalists like Rachel Maddow, Amy Goodman and the folks at Think Progress continue to uncover the netherworld that has turned our election system into a corporate sewer. Pressure should be brought on local levels of the Chamber to demand accountability...in short make the terms "corporate money" and "foreign money" a big issue in the 2012 campaign.

I'm sure you'll get more specifics in the days to come but I would imagine that the only people who were happy about all the money spent were the TV stations that made a fortune selling time.

4. this source says 7-1 narrowed to $4 out of every 10.....
http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2010/10/27/Democratic-groups-boost-election-spending/UPI-68111288187478/

A Post analysis of campaign finance disclosure filings indicates nearly $4 of every $10 spent by independent groups last week were meant to help Democratic candidates. Just a few weeks earlier, Democratic-leaning organizations were being outspent by 7 to 1, the data indicates.

5. Thanks, that's what I was looking for.
"outspent by 3 to 2", sounds like a poor talking point. We should have much better, as we regroup in the coming months.

7. But that figure seems to be only the last week
of the campaign. The average over the whole campaign is probably much higher.

10. My local rep Paul Broun Jr. outspent his opponent 17 to 1....

Russell Edwards spent $88,000 on his campaign.

Paul Broun Jr. spent 1.5 million.

Broun won, of course. He's the one Rep in the House who could out-crazy Bachmann.

14. well, with the supreme court decision, the repugs
don't really need those "little peoples'" money-when businesses in Dubai, SA, China, can just supply the money for a price. Outsourcing more jobs, not a problem, give us more cheap contaminated crap, you got it. Especially, now that we have a few nutbaggers that really love more deregulation and want to get rid of all those pesky regulatory departments--we can have even more contaminated food, poisoned water and cute little lead base toys that our kiddies can play with. And, everyone knows that in a free market, well those bad global corporations will just go out of business if they sell too many shitty things or give us shitty services. Too bad, people believe in that fairytale--those "too big to fail" corporations just change their name or think they can pay off people to the lowest denominator for a life. It's business as usual, they face little consequences or little jail time.

Yep, the corporate owned repug party doesn't need no stinking prole's money anymore.

15. Don't forget all that yummy "outside" corporate money that went to supporting
right wing candidates.

Thank you Supreme Court.
