Best. Vote. Ever.
Today, at the ripe young age of 50, I made my best vote ever.

Today I voted for sanity, and kindness and compassion over insanity, hate and fear.

Today I voted to move my state ever forward, leading the way for the nation.

Today, with actual tears in my eyes, I voted to legalize cannabis.

But no one is doing a really good indoor right now. I'm dubious about the strain because the name comes from a sifi move, a really good sifi movie, but a sifi movie none the less.

Everything here now is about the purps.

35. Help me wrap my mind around this....
A relative of mine, and her son, live in CA. They both have licenses for medical marijuana. The son is in treatment for bone cancer. They also grow their own primo pot for their own personal use, as is allowed by their licenses.

They both voted against prop. 19. The reason? They were worried that the new law would mess up what they got going, that they'd have to pay taxes on their stuff, etc. The whole "I got mine" mentality. So I asked her, why didn't you speak to your congressperson or senator about this? They could probably tell you about the pros/cons of this law. Do any of you CA residents know anything about this issue? I'm so pissed at her. They got theirs.

If I lived in CA, I for sure would have voted yes. Best of luck!

37. Some people were fooled by the hype.
Big money from booze and pills flooded the market and astro-turf groups rose up like Stoners against porp 19. Some people who are 215 patients were fooled by the false info that it would affect them, Prop 10 has no effect on medical users, that is decided law in Cali.

Who sell a bit of pot 24/7 to help make ends meet.

They have all these arguments about how badly written the bill was, that the taxes would make the stuff impossibly expensive and on and on. But frankly, I really think they feel entitled to make a nice bit of unreported profit, and they are blind to how much trouble they could be in if they ever got caught. And sort of like you say, "I got mine, and who cares about anybody else."

64. LOL
well, in practical political terms - the proposition got a lot of people talking about legalization. social change is achieved over a cycle of elections. this was true for civil rights for a variety of groups.

the direction at this time is toward progress on this issue. you've gotta keep your eye on the prize, as the civil rights movement recognized. progress occurs in fits and starts - there is a social reaction to every bit of progress ever made in this nation. but each move forward challenges the fearful and reactionary. most people come to recognize their irrational fears, even if they don't admit they ever had them, and move on.

the number of American people who support an end to prohibition and a more rational response to cannabis continues to grow. the polls show a clear increase in support since the first major legislation to decriminalize marijuana via medical statutes in the late 1990s.

Over the next two years, I assume that CA cities will decide how they want to be part of the move toward regulation - just as with the end of alcohol prohibition, some places will choose to be "dry counties" and some will choose to regulate via tax and some will continue to support a quasi-legal status because it benefits economic interests where they are.

Until Arnold signed the decriminalization bill, Prop 19 was leading in the polls. Maybe, in the world of politics, Proposition 19 helped to move this decriminalization bill - prior to this proposition, Arnold sat on such provisions.

Decriminalization puts CA law on par with the law in The Netherlands.

66. Proud to K & R this
How many of our young Americans are in prison today, or have been in the past, because they chose to smoke a natural herb that is far less harmful than alcohol, which is legal for adult consumption almost everywhere. The herb is far less dangerous than smoking cigarettes. It gives relief from chronic pain for so many people. It is one of the most idiotic laws on our books. Legalize pot and tax it! No-brainer. Damn our politicians are dumb.

Now let's talk about hemp, a relative of marijuana. That is the real victim in this heinous criminalization debacle. Growing and selling hemp is illegal in this country. Why? Hemp is a wonderful natural fiber and can be made into shirts, shoes, hats, bags, and all kinds of other fabrics. But you can't grow it. You can't buy it from an American company.

Hemp is another fast growing crop with a very high yield per acre. Its root systems run at least three feet deep, anchoring and protecting the soil from runoff. The hemp plant is very versatile, boasting over 25,000 products that can be made from it. Hemp fibers are long, strong, absorbent and mildew resistant. Hemp fabric is durable, takes color well, and softens beautifully over time. Good Things Boutique carries select hemp apparel and shoe styles from Mountains of the Moon, Earthbound Creations, and Simple Shoes.

Hemp can even be used for making plastics:
