Heard on rightwing radio this morning - Stewart/Colbert rally numbers
Edited on Mon Nov-01-10 05:55 PM by underpants
they mentioned the CBS News number of 215,00

then, to my amazement (paraphrased)

"A different way of measuring it is by Metro numbers....

a normal Saturday Metro ridership is 350,000

the Beck rally had a ridership of 510,000

this weekend had a ridership of 825,000"

1. Those nos. make Beck look better than the legit estimates of actually rally attendance do.

Ridership gives Beck more than half Stewart's number, which the attendance estimates give him little more than a third.

2. You had to figure in all the people fleeing the city in the Beck
numbers. They were lucky to have 80,000.

5. Wow, just wow. Maybe since it was not a real candidate or party
affiliation, they are not intimidated? You know, these people were the disenchanted too--just like their little tea parties. I have a feeling that they did not grasp what this rally was all about.

7. That can't be true....
Freepers would never stoop to taking Public Transportation...

Isn't that a communist plot to destroy the private sectors ability to transport mass amounts of people?

8. The metro was so crowded I almost lost it...
...since I'm claustrophobic. I've never seen so many people packed into one car - and I used to live in NYC and took the subway everywhere.

We stayed in town for three hours after the rally and the metro was still packed on the way out.

11. This ties in very well with the crowd estimates
First Subtract

Beck 510,000 - 350,000 = 160,000

Stewart Colbert 825,000 - 350,000 = 475,000

but now divide by 2 because people will ride 2x (there and back)

Beck 80,000

Stewart Colbert 237,500
