Compromise? Whatcha Got?
I really have nothing left to compromise with.

What have you got, that they want, that you can trade away to make them happy?

Like I say, I got nothing. Nothing that I am willing to give up.

I ain't giving up any more of my rights, so don't even go there, you nazis.

1. You will be told to give up your SS benefits. You may not like it,
but that will be the next 'compromise'. And just like health care, the 'sensible', 'sanity', 'pragmatists' will call you a pony-pushing radical.

20. It's all we have left. It will be 'compromised' away so the rich can keep their tax cut & wars can..
continue. At least, after that, we'll have nothing left to lose.

2. As long as you're views
are of the minority, you have plenty you can compromise on. Stating the you refuse to compromise just shows that you choose to be disappointed with everything rather than be pleased with some things.
Sad lonely world there. No wonder you guys are always pissed off at everything.

7. Be reasonable and sensible; it's really the only way
Otherwise you're doomed to disappointment forever. And besides, are you really using those civil rights? Is it really so bad to work until you're 70? 72? Why not 85? Betty White's still working, and she's pushing 90! She may be doing a little better wage-wise than a Wal*Mart greeter, but there's dignity in work! Lots of it. Or are you pissing on the working man now? There's just no pleasing some people.

9. Give? Nothing.
But I do understand that working towards a goal is ALOT more effective than demanding my way is the ONLY way to reach that goal.
Seven out of ten is alot better than zero out of ten.

But then again, I don't know one single nazi or socialist either, so maybe my fear level isn't high enough yet.

10. Goals
Their goal is to take everything they can from us. That's the nazis.

Take our freedoms, take our money, take away our clean environment then piss on you and tell you it is raining.

My goal is, really, be free. I am a long way from that. I will compromise no more just so the few can have it all.

What's your goal?

11. You know
if I didn't know I was on DU, I would swear that post was from a right-wing site. Taking your freedoms and your money etc...

So what are "they" trying to take away from us?

My goal? For everybody to respect each other enough to understand that we each define being 'free' in our own way, and because of this, we must compromise.
I guarantee it would be more effective than using personal opinions to pick and choose the rights and freedoms we believe are ok for others to have.

25. Ah, Bobo
The thing is, freedoms make perfect sense to me, I'm just not afraid to ask real questions and ask for facts in return. Because I demand facts, little guilt trips don't work on me. Neither do little "for now" or "what if" fear tactics.

22. Aw, can't even support you're own statements
Is it really that hard to tell us what freedoms we have compromised away? Perhaps you are one who just believes what they are told to believe, so you are unable to explain facts to support your statements? That sure would explain the attempted deflection by crying right-wing or trying to convince others you are so much smarter.

Funny how such hypocritical positions lead to such fear.

How about my right to privacy?

My right to have my vote counted as cast?

My right to clean air and water?

My right to not be fed a continuous stream of bullshit thrown at me from TV and radio?

My right not to fear going to jail for some idiotic law?

My right not to be ripped off by Wall Street and the bankers?

Are you for real or what?

27. And you have proof
that "they" are the ones who are responsible?

You do realize there was very little compromise needed for the Patriot Acts, right? Hell, we have had all three houses for the last two years and we still have them.
That all partisans scream vote fraud when they lose.
That you do not have the right to dictate what is on TV or radio, but you do have the right to now watch or listen.
That you do not have the right to not fear laws you disagree with.
That you do have the right not to be ripped off and that there are lawful channels you can take when you are.

I am very real, but I do not live my life in fear or what I THINK is there. I live by facts, not opinions, which is why I voted for President Obama and why I trust President Obama to do the job he was elected to do.

Face the facts and you will lose the fear.

29. Oh ok
Nothing to fear?

Tell that to the homeless. Tell that to the victim of domestic violence who can't get a judge to help end it because she can't afford the best lawyer.

You must be a big strong white rich male? And have little recognition of those that aren't, and who can be thrown in jail and locked away because they aren't?

I have little fear for me, but fear for the others who are no where near as lucky as me... like Iraqis, Afghans, the Mexican immigrants just looking for work, the native Americans. Do you get the point yet, oh great fearless one?

32. Have you already forgotten what we are discussing?
We were discussing compromising with "they" and the FREEDOMS that "they," the "nazis," have taken from you. Remember yet?

Not helping the homeless the way YOU think they should be helped, is NOT a lose of your freedoms nor is it due to the actions of one party. Neither is protecting the victims of domestic violence. Opinions on how to best address each issue vary from individual to individual and in a society based on individual freedoms, none of them are the final say in dealing with the issue. That is where compromise comes in.

I'm 6' 215lbs, big enough to hold my own. Hardly rich though.

Oh, I get the point you are trying to now make. You are 'compassionate' and worry about those who are not treated as YOU believe they should be. The Iraqis and Afghans have nothing to do with freedoms "they" have taken from you.
I agree that there is risk to our freedoms in our fight to stop ILLEGAL immigration and, IF the time comes, I will fight right alongside you to protect the rights and freedoms of US citizens.

Oh, and just because I don't take you're OPINION as fact and fearfully shake in my shoes, does not mean I am fearless.

So, how about an honest example of freedoms "they" have actually taken from you?

You are clueless aren't you?

The founding fathers, should you ever seriously try to understand them and their writings, will get you started with getting a clue.

It could be, however, that you are just trying real hard to be an asshole?

Hint: First they came for the gypsies, but since I wasn't a gypsy, what did I care?

34. In other words
you cannot clearly define what freedoms "they" have taken from you, so you have to resort to trying to use you're INTERPRETAION of what the founding fathers 'really' meant in their writings.
Eh. Get that from my Libertarian friends ALL the time. They can usually give at least one example though.

Are they really coming for the gypsies if you only THINK you heard them knocking? If you answer yes, then you should be able to PROVE there is somebody actually at the door.

15. I don't want to compromise on anything
But I probably will. Most people think that to get something is better than nothing. And I say it depends on what that something is. If that something is the one thing that you know a person needs and hold it to extort someone for your own benefit, then why should I compromise. To me its like a sandwich thats made out of bread only.
And I didn't like it when they called our President,Nancy Pelosi,or Harry Reid a nazis. And it is offensive on all levels. Just because the right and tea baggers sling that word around, doesn't mean that we should use it to term a persons character. References to any person even the corrupt rightwing should not make that word acceptable. And its borderline okay when we use it in the factual statements that those on the right have made.I am not mad and telling you what to do I just don't like the word or the time it represents.

But the nazis hate the gays, the blacks, the tree-huggers, etc.

Are you saying they don't?

Look, all my life I've been compromising. Been lied to, cheated and stolen from. Have seen good people die in foolish wars. Seen brothers go to jail for what amounts to zilch in comparison to what the bankers and Wall Street have done.

I'm done compromising with the pukes. They had their chance.

21. No I did not say that the tea baggers
or the right don't have some hate to their agenda. But this has got more to do with the corruption of a society for profit. Not our profit. With the corporate powers that be the fight is going to be long and hard. And on some issues they are going to force our hand into compromising. I stated that I do not want to compromise, but probably will on some issues. If I don't get what I want but millions of Americans get help then the compromise of myself for my fellow man is not to much to ask of me.But on things that are firm in my belief I will always try and advocate for more.

And I don't want any un necessary wars either. The blood of our sons, daughters, mother, fathers, relatives, and friends in the military are very precious to us all. As for Wall Street, maybe they should be on the front line in the next conflict.

23. I don't.
Why would I suggest compromise to someone in need. Listen the compromise they want right now is this. They want the American people to let the fat Corporate egos keep stealing. They are using the economy they have robbed as the bargaining piece. They will not take the 1.8 trillion dollars and put it back into the economy unless we let them have their corporate theft. This is about who will say UNCLE first. And I do not compromise on issues of humanity. I am out of work also. So I do understand. Hell I went to work at the beginning of the week to be unemployed by the end of the week.I don't want anyone to compromise on having shelter, food, clothing,a job, reliable transportation(whether its car or public transportation),or basic health care. These are things that I feel any person needs to feel more like an American. And though you may be down and so am I it doesn't mean we have been counted out.
