Last night, Bill Maher played a final montage of Christine O'Donnell's craziest statements—things like, "Condoms don't help!"—before playing a Halloween message from the ladybug herself, during which she decries the "Satanic" holiday's "human sacrifice" element. Videos inside.

10. It could be that Christine O'Donnell has forgotten the fun

of a trick-or-treat evening, when kids get to dress up like ghosts and Dracula and SpiderMan and Cinderella and the Wolfman.

She may also have forgotten that that sort of thing is fun for grown-ups once in awhile, too, and that the imagination is invited to run more free on Hallowe'en evening than at other times, and that it is a night of general merriment and creativity for all.

Often it is also a crisp, clear night, when one can fill a bag with candy and enjoy the acknowledgement and praise from dozens of people house to house on whose doors the trick-or-treaters have knocked.

It is a night of a hell of a lot of grinning.

Siblings and pals and neighbors seem to be components of a great evening's fun. It has nothing to do with human sacrifice or any other sort of dark or negative visitation. It's about a clear autumn night and the good company of sisters, cousins, brothers, school pals, and neighbors. There's plenty of candy and even more imaginative play.

It could be that Christine O'Donnell has forgotten that, and if she has, that is a terrible shame.
