The MONSTER No One Is Talking About That WILL Effect The Election IMMENSELY
How OFA's GOTV operation will change this election

--snip--

One more thing: In 2004 and 2006, the large portion of the people that the Dems contacted prior to the election were categorized as "Strong Dems". Those were entirely wasted calls and door knocks. Why? Because those people were going to go to the polls anyway. OFA has an entirely different model. We spent the summer and fall contacting people who voted for the first time in 2008 (so-called "surge voters") and "Sporadic Voters" (people who vote Democratic but don't typically vote in the midterms.) This is where we can increase turn out and these are NOT people who typically show up as "likely voters". If we increase their turnout, they can turn the tide in unforeseen ways. Not only that, it increases the likelihood that they will become "Strong Dems" who vote reliably in every election. Brilliant!

My comment: OFA is a silent, efficient, vote getting MONSTER. They have been working quietly under the radar and they WILL be effective. Will it be enough? We will find out, but don't count the Dems out yet.

2. K & R. Good to know about all the work going on
Should be a high turnout of Dems and progressives this election, at least in my district in California

3. I went out for OFA
In June with pledge sheets. We just talked to people and asked them to sign a form from the President asking that they would pledge to vote. My volunteer partner and I far exceeded our goal for signatures - people were very excited to PLEDGE to vote in 2010.

The GOP is trying to steal the GOTV organizing techniques from OFA but like all who copy an original, they just can't do it as well.

In my opinion, what the republicans/conservatives don't have is HOPE. That, to me is the major difference between the people on the right and left. I never hear a conservative speak of hope for the future, it is always about fear.

Hope is a much higher vibration than fear and creates a much larger and long lasting wave of energy. There is only so long that people can be in misery before they NEED to find something to lift their spirits. I completely believe that democrats are going to come out and vote because we just like that happy feeling of HOPE.
