Melancon Hammers Vitter Over Scandals

In one of the most brutal attack ads of the year, Louisiana Democrat Charlie
Melancon's campaign accuses incumbent Republican Senator David Vitter of using public money to pay for prostitutes.
"Our tax dollars pay David Vitter's salary, and he used it for prostitutes," the narrator says in the statewide TV spot released Thursday. "You're welcome, Senator. Our money paid for Vitter's 'serious sin.'"In 2007, Vitter admitted to committing a "serious sin" when his name surfaced as a client to the infamous "D.C. Madam" who ran a Washington prostitution ring.
Melancon's new ad also hits Vitter over his handling of a former aide in his Senate office, who resigned after reports surfaced that he attacked with a knife and held captive an ex-girlfriend.
"In return, we got a disgraced senator ranked among the least effective in Congress," the ad continues. "The real sin is that David Vitter's still a senator."more...
