Just keep in mind, she was a mayor of a town of a few thousand and the resigned governor of .....
.... a state with less than 800,000 citizens.

This is a list of cities with populations above 700,000 people;

According to the 2000 US Census:

1 New York City, New York- 8,310,212
2 Los Angeles, California- 3,834,340
3 Chicago, Illinois- 2,836,658
4 Houston, Texas- 2,208,180
5 Phoenix, Arizona- 1,552,259
6 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania- 1,449,634
7 San Antonio, Texas- 1,328,984
8 San Diego, California- 1,266,731
9 Dallas, Texas- 1,266,372
10 San Jose, California- 939,899
11 Detroit, Michigan- 916,952
12 Jacksonville, Florida- 805,605
13 San Francisco, California- 799,185
14 Indianapolis, Indiana- 795,458
15 Columbus, Ohio- 747,755
16 Austin, Texas- 743,074

We won't even look at metro areas . . . .

Those mayors had to deal with more complicated issues than she ever did. None of them will be running for president. Well, maybe Bloomberg. And Judy Rhulliani

1. I am no Palin fan
but being a governor is way different from being a Mayor even of a big city. You have to decide on executions for one thing. You have state departments of homeland security and nation guards for another. Her quitting is, of course, a whole different kettle of fish. But I think Howard Dean's 12 years as governor of Vermont is much more of a fair prep for being President than being mayor of even NYC.
