I'm Dangerously Furious.
Edited on Mon Oct-25-10 03:25 PM by liberalmuse
I don't normally watch the tube - except when I'm sick. Last night when I was watching a 'Paranormal State' marathon, this commercial lying about Rep. Jay Inslee kept coming on. OMG, I wanted to scream and even had to mute it. This commercial said to call him and tell him to stop bankrupting America and went on about how our kids are going to have to pay for the huge deficit (That BUSH created!). Lies - I was there. It was Reagan, Bush I and Bush II with their wars and trickle down bullshit and GREED that got us into the state we are now. The kicker? This commercial was done by the US Chamber of Commerce. What the flying FUCK???!!! Our tax dollars are being used to fund pro-Republican, anti=Democratic propoganda? WTF country am I in? I made a phone call, alright. Of course when I told the real person who answered the phone why, I was funneled into voice mail. I'm so angry right now it's scary...

1. Stop watching the campaign ads completely
This week will be worst because they're flooding the airwaves and desperation has set in. They'll throw everything they can at us to get our vote. Just simply keep a finger on the mute button and use it. All these ads are going away after election day.

2. You're right - they're just awful.
But the US Chamber of Commerce is putting out ads now? I had heard about some flack involving them. Guess this was it. I've had to stay away from politics for awhile. It's killing me.

5. I check local news and weather online now
Thankfully, nothing but issue ads have penetrated satellite channels, and screaming "FUCK OFF!" while scrabbling for the remote is oddly cathartic.

4. How is that our tax dollars being used to fund political commercials?
The US Chamber of Commerce is a pro-business lobbying group. It is not a government entity.

19. That's how I took the OP's statement:
"This commercial was done by the US Chamber of Commerce. What the flying FUCK???!!! Our tax dollars are being used to fund pro-Republican, anti=Democratic propoganda?"

I just pointed out that the CoC is not a government entity.

6. Then Inslee should have an ad out USING their ad and showing
where the money is coming from. Foreign money paying to defeat Democrats. He should do it an run it all of next week until they have to stop running it.

7. I think Inslee's pretty safe, I hope! He's one of the really good ones
who not only do WE need, but ALL the progressives across the country.

Who was the ad FOR? Who did you call?

This is exactly what they're carpeting the country with - it's frightening and yes, infuriating.

Did you see the one about voting against 1098? "Now is not the time for more taxes!" Jeez, not one of those "people" in the ad would even be affected by the initiative! They just hear the word taxes and freak. My boss said she's voted against it because she heard they can make ALL of us pay increased taxes in two years. The Yes 1098 people say that's not true, but regardless, I said "wouldn't you rather have people paying lower property taxes for a couple of years at least, then deal with it if it comes up in two years?"

Now I'M getting pissed! Then there's the Dino Rossi ones. :grr:

Hope you're feeling better! :hi:

15. Inslee's perfectly safe.
His opponent, James Watkins, stands about as much chance of winning a congressional seat as I do -- and I ain't runnin'.

9. Hmm...demographics at work, it seems.
Psst...no tax dollars were spent to show you that ad. Don't tell anyone, though...wink, wink, nudge, nudge. I'll say no more.

10. If you're rilly, rilly dangerously furious, I suggest taking
a baseball bat or sledgehammer to your TV. That should protect you in the future.

13. I got a mailer from repug party telling me to vote for
2 right-wing activist judges on the "non-partisan" part of the ballot. It had a "special message to Republican voters" on the back that listed the ways "liberals are ruining the country" and "we have to stop the liberal agenda". 3 out of the 5 bullet points had the word 'liberal'. Non-partisan part of the ballot? I think not.

few years will ERASE all of it.
