Rethugs worry that immigration could spell the end of their party, reveal their true racist selves
Now we find out exactly why the ultra neoconservatives oppose immigration, particularly across the Mexican border. They're racist, pure and simple. If you've listened to Rush lately, he's been railing against the immigration bill because he feels that it will lead to the demise of the Republican party. He assumes that all Hispanic immigrants think alike, and that they will all vote Democrat. That is the very definition of racism - lumping an entire race into one group, and making blanket assumptions about them.

Personally, I would love to see the Republican party completely destroyed, left in shambles. But they don't need to worry about millions of new Democrat voters coming into the country, the rethugs are doing a damned good job of destroying themselves.

My answer to your post I've already put here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x933287

It is not about racism.

8. It's not racism to assume that an entire ethnic group thinks alike?
Also, Democrat versus Democratic, you know what I meant.

12. So making sweeping generalizations about a race is not racist?
So if someone says that black people like watermelon and fried chicken, that's not racist?

Saying that Asians are good at fixing computers isn't racist?

Saying that Jews are good with money isn't racist?

Funny, because whenever I've heard someone make blanket comments like those and others, even if they aren't necessarily derogatory, I've always heard them condemned as racist comments.

13. nope...still doesn't rise to racism
not to be a pain, but please look up the word racism. Racism concerns the belief that one race is superior to another...saying that blacks are dumber than whites, asians are smarter than whites, or Jews don't deserve to live because they are inferior...THAT is racism.

14. It may not be racism, but it is bigoted and narrow minded to
think that "All .............'s think or act this way." The ........ could be Hispanics, Blacks, Muslims, Whites, Teenagers, Seniors, etc.

7. The whole point is for white folks to *be* racist, without *looking* racist....
... aka plausible deniability. It's not going as well as some would like.

9. Meanwhile, I'm worried this will haunt the Democrats.
They will play this as those damn libruuls are allowing those Mexicans in to take away your middle class job. Don't under estimate the race card, and how effective they are at using it.

15. Thanks for your concern.
Isn't your union eager to recruit newly legal workers? Mexico has a strong history of labor activism.

17. And I strongly disagree with my union on this.
It's very sad and pathetic that the labor movement has fallen this far as to be scrounging for members in the illegal/legal immigrant population. Thanks to Ronnie Reagan and weak Democrats who didn't fight for their base, this is what we've come to.

11. Naw.. It's not going to last LONG ENOUGH for immigration to do it in..
They will have driven the stake through it's hole-where-a-heart-should-be much earlier than that.

18. This is true, as they also go on about the "threat" to our culture
and the English language, as if that would happen immediately, (if this country becomes primarily Spanish speaking 100 years from now, so what?) Or that whites will become a minority. This is stated in a worried tone, and one is tempted to say, so what if whites become a minority? On what basis is that an inherently bad thing?
